I’ve dreamed about becoming a freedom dictator. A new concept where instead of oppressing the regular people I instead dictate freedom. By decree all taxes reduced, all regulations cut back, demand a true free market and all gun laws are gone. Anyone who advocates for more govt control or any form of authoritarianism over the people are eliminated. Welfare recipients will be required to perform 30 hours a week of community service. Violent criminals won’t be put in prison for decades on the taxpayer dime. They’ll be hung out front of the courthouse upon conviction
Basically restore law and order, common sense, free market economy and personal freedoms by force by eliminating those who have used our system to destroy it from within.

Conservatives are. They preach their ideals but they are unwilling to lift an actual finger to defend them. It wasnt conservatives that came to Washington on Jan 6. Conservatives were the ones ratting out their neighbors who did go.

What has the last 8 years of populism given you?

I don’t think this is necessarily true. It was at at certain point without a doubt but a paradigm shift has happened. The political right (at least the members of society that are political right far too many conservative politicians haven’t reached this yet) have woken up to “conserving” is a slow March to death as you’ll forever be on the defensive against the left. We are seeing a massive rise in explosion of various forms of right win political philosophy become incredibly popular and well known which was essentially unheard of a decade ago. People are openly going on the offensive against left now. No longer content to just accept death by a million cuts. It is undeniable right wing people are fighting back openly and with clear intent no longer afraid of their labels. Not enough yet by far but it’s happening.

Thank you. One of the best explanations of modern populist fraud I have ever seen. Nobody, especially real, thinking conservatives would choose government from the Happy Hick mobile home park club room over government in Washington with all of it's faults.

How about I reject both outright as failures? Can I do that or is it too radical and scary for you?

Very good post on first page. Thanks.

Before Obama/BIden/Trump a lot less debt.
I dont know how anyone can look at New Orleans or Detroit and think populism is a good thing.

I don’t think anyone who actually truly understands what populism is would or does very much agree it will end up achieving much of anything good. It’s mostly become a sort of colloquial term at large for the masses who don’t have this information to say they want change.

By your logic I don’t know how people can look at Finland or Sweden and think socialism is a bad thing.

If we want a large government like we have, you need all sides contributing.
The problem is the working class is in love with incumbents despite all their protest to the contrary.

You’re talking an anti-business political stance, and generally anti-business means pro-big government. Socialism.
No thank you.

Populism is as dangerous as anything Socialist or Communist. It's a muddle, a political, economic and moral morass.... a Golden Corral of politics. Leaves you full, but nauseated....and ultimately regretful for having participated as you spend the night on the toilet.

Yep. Trump is the Ink Blot president. No values, no plan. People just see in him what they want to see.
Its directionless and valueless. The populist anthem...
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains
There's a land that's fair and bright
Where the handouts grow on bushes
And you sleep out every night
Where the boxcars all are empty
And the sun shines everyday
All the birds and the bees
And the cigarette trees
The lemonade springs
Where the bluebird sings
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains

I agree with your general point being that populism is sort of aimless with no clear direction or most importantly it isn’t grounded in any specific philosophical principles which makes it dangerous. Less informed readers of the the thread likely could’ve had your message delivered better without all the flowery language though.

*2 and a half years...a great economy, a nice tax cut, stability, demilitarization, getting out of a stupid climate pact, low gas prices, a Supreme Court majority that ended Roe vs Wade.
If you want to be intellectually dishonest go for it. Thats you and Slow grow dohs MO.

Funny, many on this board was all over Ron until Donny came along. They are the opposite ends of the spectrum. \
Now they criticize his ideology.
