Just got around to this thread. I haven't read or followed Ben Shapiro, but he hits on a lot of good points.
America's rejection of traditional Christian morality lies at the root of the increase in deviance. Instead of standing firm during the sexual revolution, America's Christians for whatever reason, relaxed their standards. Many decided Christianity needed to change with the times, be more accepting, less fire and brimstone, more fun and less stuffy. Many more just decided they didn't want any God over them.
During this time, the porn industry has grown exponentially, and the content has become more degrading. Add in the fact that anyone with a smartphone can view it within the comfort of their own home. The result of this? Those who aren't addicted to it have become numb to it.
Pornography is Satan's ace-in-the-hole when it comes to men. He knows our weaknesses all too well. It is estimated that 50% of men professing to be Christian, view pornography.
The natural reaction to a relaxation of morals? An increase in immorality!

There is a fair amount of porn that involves slapping and hitting women and degrading, abusive sex that borders on rape.

You're confusing morality with mores. Morals are personal while mores are societal. Neither can be legislated.
You can adopt a set of morals for yourself but you can't dictate them to your neighbors. Mores are a "majority rules" set of approvals and disapprovals by a society at large. For example, homosexuality in America was once disapproved of by a majority of citizens. Now, the majority approves of same sex relationships.
Politicians enacted laws against gays when the majority disapproved in an attempt to suppress their participation in society. Now that the tide has turned, laws support the full expression of civil rights by gays in mainstream society.
