Well, for starters, people need to quit calling it a fever since her "fever" was below the definition of what classifies as a fever, therefore making her "fever" not a fever at all.

You have been really confrontational in these Ebola threads. Like some of the food board posters about gumbo.

I honestly believe the CDC/Vinson/Texas Presbyterian thing is a little bit of everyone's fault. The hospital definitely made some severe errors, the CDC has already accepted responsibility under lathe for the flight error and several others and the nurse, if her statements regarding fatigue, muscle aches & higher temp certainly could have considered further before flying. But she did fly only after she was told she was able to do so safely.

There is definitely passion among healthcare workers here in that they feel they weren't led properly by neither the hospital or the CDC - again admitted by both parties. Those healthcare workers' lives were needlessly put in more danger by attempts to control costs (not purchasing or distributing hoods before multiple complaints, protocols not clearly communicated by hospital or CDC nor followed by either party once established) as outlined by nurses report. I have no reason to doubt the nurse reports as they only want the best protection for themselves and their patients. Needless increase in danger creates fear & anger. Perfectly reasonable for there to be some passionate responses.

Considering that most people in this area know someone who works at that hospital, there is a heightened awareness of what could and did go wrong. That's not hysteria. It's a growing sense of distrust for how this has been handled so far, the accuracy if what we are being told as it seems to change every few days and limited patience from those who don't know people who work there w/o dismiss that sense of distrust and unease.

Move here, know the people who work there and live within the community who wakes everyday to another "oops. We got that wrong but here's what it really was." Hysteria is unwarranted but a healthy distrust is warranted and was earned.

I haven't commented on the in flight death of the guy heading to JFK from an infected area bc it's really weird. He did vomit repeatedly on the flight and died before it landed. Health officials were able to determine in.under an hour that he didn't have Ebola but we don't know how they made that determination. Perhaps there's a legit reason for that.

It shouldn't even warrant an explanation until a credible source reports it. Even the current source only report vomiting before death, which ich is more common than you might think.

Is it possible she spoke to someone in the Dallas County office or state health department?

Did you see the part of my quote that you ignored where it was quoting the government and what happened when she called the CDC? You know, according to the CDC
It appears that the entire conversation between the nurse, CDC, and possible parties that stood in between, is not entirely clear at this point. The most recent and closest to the source info says that it was not a direct contact with the CDC. Of course the subject herself may have been untruthful to her family as well as the CDC.

Quick question: did she call the CDC before her first flight to Cleveland or before her second flight back to Dallas? I don't want to read this whole thread to find out.

The CDC is proving to be highly incompetent at putting a lid on this.
