Where are the black influences?

They are jumping through so many hoops trying to make this a one-way street and not acknowledge the obvious point that blues is an off-shoot of country. Country evolved primarily from traditional Scotch-Irish music. When Afro-Carribbean influences intersected with those old ballads and laments the blues was born. It would be a lot more interesting to look for the actual points of divergence between blues and country than to engage in silly pandering. Listen to Lightnin' Hopkins or Ledbelly or Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. Country influenced them, and they influenced country. Especially Ledbelly.

Actually, black American culture is the leftovers of the worst parts of the old southern white culture.

Eat unhealthy, drink too much, smoke too much, way too quick to fight; we do have a lot in common.

Maybe. I still have distant relatives that never evolved. Dopers, drunks, barely literate.....and take pride in it.

Where are the black influences?
Southern Culture is essentially British crossed w/Black. Even the Appalachian societies were not totally isolated -- they just had less constant contact w/blacks, and thus preserved British musical styles (and for that matter, language) in a form closer to that of the homeland.
There are country records of the '20s that are virtually indistinguishable from blues records. Some Jimmie Rodgers tracks are only recognizably country due to his yodeling.
The black influence on rockabilly should be obvious.

Ok but the question is, do they own the title of country music?

pandering is gross but if it will nudge culcha in a direction that favors God and country then pander away.
