It would need to be something huge because if they can't get their base to sympathize with them it's going to get very ugly for the party. Trump is in there in the first place because of the hatred for establishment politics.

How close was Clinton to being impeached for getting a BJ instead of the actual crime they were investigating him for?

He was impeached

For lying under oath, not getting a BJ

Clinton wasn't impeached over the BJ he was impeached for perjury for lying about the BJ, and obstruction of justice, for trying to hide his tracks.

The only way it doesn't get ugly is if mueller doesn't drop something.

The house isn't turning on trump though. He won't be impeached unless it is something completely objectively horrible, i.e. murder/rape/human trafficking. And I would be absolutely blown away if any of that occurred.

As much as I hate Obama; it never once occurred to me to impeach him.

How can a President be impeached for something allegedly done while he was a private citizen?

The GJ does not convict. They only decide if there is enough evidence to indict someone based SOLELY on the testimony of the prosecutor. There will probably be an indictment.

With Sessions on the warpath to catcher leakers, and the GJ testimony being secret by law, I can't wait to see who gets arrested for passing info to the press.

I also can't wait to see who on the other side of the aisle gets dragged into this based upon other evidence turned up in the course of the investigation.

When he was appointed we didn't know Comey was such a POS (some thought it but..), then we find out his goal all along was to get his bff appointed to captain of the witch hunt.

But in reality, neither you nor I know what Mueller is bringing to the GJ. You are making so many unfounded, emotional assumptions.

You don't have to be smart to see whats going on. This is Scooter Libby 2.0.

This whole thing started with no stated crime. Hey dig and dig and dig until somebody slips. Bammo. Process crime.

All the while they get to hold up and distract Congress and the admin from doing their jobs.

It also requires a 2/3 majority of both houses...good luck with that.

I think one could argue that Trump has already been removed from power. Here's why:

1) foreign policy-wise: Now that the world knows that Trump's Oval Office telephone is publicly leaking, Trump's ability to conduct foreign policy is crippled. Medvedev has recently stated that Trump is "powerless" and "outwitted" by the Wash DC Establishment. Trump's foreign policy making ability is diminished.

2) Trump's Domestic Legislative and Policy agenda is being opposed by both Dems and Pubs. The Republicans who hate Trump, and they are legion, seem committed to denying Trump any accomplishments in legislation. We'll see what happens with Immigration and Tax reform. If not even some minor reforms can be passed by this Congress, the conclusions are obvious.

So, one could argue that Trump is a lame duck POTUS just six months in. He's already been removed from power to some extent.

This all disgusts me, but, I know that anybody who expresses disgust with what's being done to Trump will be labeled as a Trumpkin who doesn't realize that this is all Trump's fault. What people need to realize is that whenever Communist China or the Soviet Union conducted a Show Trial to convict a political enemy, the court ALWAYS blamed the Victim and ALWAYS made sure that the masses were told that the Victim had only himself to blame for his execution. That's the way that Totalitarianism works. Der Staat is Infallible. The masses ONLY are capable of deviations, corruption and betrayal.

My mistake. The House can vote to impeach with a simple majority; however, to remove a President from office requires a 2/3 majority of the Senate.
