How can you defend trump/musk for doing that? You can’t.
They didn’t even attempt to save anybody’s career. A lot of good hard working loyal employees were sent home. His own supporters.

You act as though we need all this government. We don't need half of what they do. And even the half we need is highly inefficient and corrupt. A great businessman like Trump can get the job done with 20% of what we have now.

They were promoted within the organization. Don't know precisely how long they've been here, but 10+ years, and both currently on "probationary" status. But their jobs seem safe at the moment.

Thats part of the problem.

Make federal workers compete against each other. "Safe jobs" leads to shitty performance.

You buy into the stereotype of government workers that’s been promoted by the Right for years.

In my experience there are plenty of knowledgeable, dedicated employees in the federal workforce. Those folks don’t deserve to be laid off to satisfy some misguided political agenda.

You seriously don’t even make sense lol. This is your logic: Trump is cutting government positions unnecessarily so we need to keep them but if we keep them it will just continue to spiral the debt. You have the logic of a child but I get it, no one wants to believe their political beliefs are ignorant and uninformed. It’s always someone else’s fault

NO ONE, ANYWHERE, ANY TIME is entitled to a job. Why federal workers are perceived by some as a privileged class is incomprehensible to me.

And you DO know that when feds are sent to other offices/departments/agencies it's often because they are being recycled through the system due to incompetence and the inability to fire them.

Length of time in a fed job doesn't mean much. Ability to do the job and move up due to MERIT does. As it should!

Plenty of talented and hardworking people get laid off in the private sector when the overall organization is unhealthy and needs to restructure. You get that, right? why should federal workers be protected? That's what got us into this shite show.

I swear, some of you sound like you don't live in the real world at all.

Have you ever been to a National Park? There's tons of retired people who volunteer there. A lot of those jobs are seasonal because of weather. If you go to Glacier National Park right now, it's empty because it's buried under ten feet of snow. Sure, technically it's "open" but you need a good pair of snowshoes and some serious survivalist skills to enter. But in August it turns into a traffic jam, hence the army of volunteers who show up every summer to help out and give their boring lives some purpose.

This is a stupid argument anyway. Nobody is going to cut the NPS anyway. It's a fraction of a fraction of the deficit and it pays for itself because it costs like $28/day to enter a Park and there's virtually no overhead. Mother Nature provided all of the attractions for free.

Liberals ALWAYS trot out the National Parks whenever there is a threat of budget cuts or government shutdowns because they know it's the ONE thing that all voters - left, right and center - love about our federal government.

Our competition is defense contractors, and I can tell you that in my field it is like comparing NFL vs. CFB in terms of how close they are in competency.

Your experience is either fake or emotionally driven. I have to deal with bureaucracy at every turn in the medical field with needless overhouse employees who provide no real service or benefit. Outside of the people who work for the government, it provides little benefit to anyone else

These people exist, but the only way this is your experience is if your experience is extremely limited.

It's because you are feeling vs. thinking.

The Federal government shouldn't be a mechanism to employ people.

The Federal government shouldn't operate so inefficiently that it bankrupts itself and destroys the lives of all of its citizens.

The Federal government shouldn't be so ineffective that its employees can usurp power from elected leaders.

The Federal government shouldn't be such a disaster that hundreds of billions a year can be lost to corruption so easily.

I don't like the idea that some good people lose their jobs. But, FFS, if you cared about that you would have put a stop to the insanity a long time ago to prevent it. Now, all of this is a necessity.

I was a 15+ year corporate employee who was fired because of the green new deal and DEI last year. I was awakened as most of these people will be as well. The best thing that ever happened to me. Living in the moment. Everything happens for a reason and it's purpose is to serve you. Work harder on yourself than you do your job and life will be good!

I like to think about the good hard working great white men that lined up at the voting booth after work on election day with their maga hats and t shirts on.

I hear you, sister. White men are the worst. Humanity would be much better off without electricity, indoor plumbing, cars, tv, computers, medicine, and all of the other awful shite they force us to live with everyday.

The only way to counter voters in MAGA attire at the polls is to dress in head to toe Dem swag next time you go vote. Poll workers are impressed by the more political gear a voter wears to the polls. Don’t forget to out shine those MAGAts by proudly advertising your preferred candidate next time you line up to vote!
