Why are State and Federal employees be a protected class? Why shouldn't they be affected like the rest of us? Why shouldn't State and Federal employees be affected by Politician's decisions. I get it's not their fault but it's our fault either. Again, Why shouldn't they be affected like the rest of us?

I'm a state employee and I'll be working all day, albeit I will be working from home but I will still be taking work calls and doing work all 9 hours (I usually eat at my desk while at work and haven't found it necessary to change that habit when working from home).

They shouldn't be. I'm just making the point that not all of them are decision makers.

So you get paid. Maybe you should be forced to not work like a lot of others. There are a lot of people that would like to work but can't because JBE has forced their businesses to close.

The employees you’re referring to don’t really make the big decisions.

So the nurse who works at the VA shouldn’t get paid? FEMA employees providing direct services shouldn’t get paid?

You’re not just irrational, you’re hatfeful.

Sounds like he may have fixed the problem without your help.

Although I wasn’t seeking your approval for the job that I do nor your consent to the fact that I’ve never had a productivity problem, I do want to offer my thanks for your admission here.

And the point is that they should have to feel the pain the average citizen has to feel.

The company I work for gets much of it's revenue from government outsourcing work, so of those government workers that we work with are out of a job then we are too.

It's a shame that political ideology and gotcha-ism is so rampant during these crazy times.

So I should go out and risk my life as a State LEO and not get paid? Not only do I risk being murdered by a criminal, I have to now worry about being contaminated by this damned virus.

I’m sorry lots of folks are being destroyed financially. I think a shutdown is wrong to be completely honest. Use common sense and best of luck to you is my view.

Old folks and sick should take extra steps and we should bend over backwards to help them. The rest of us should be continuing with life.

Federal employees provide critical support to military, law enforcement and healthcare. They also are the boots on the ground to implement the executive branch's directives.

I’m in the outdoor sector and most of the Fed Employees I know are seasonal workers that do trail maintenance, work in visitor centers, fight fires, do ground maintenance, or do scientific research etc. Most have not yet been hired this year and I expect many won’t have jobs this summer. I also don’t know if seasonals even qualify for unemployment. My guess is some of these are going to be the worst off because they have already gone several months without pay and have gone through their savings.

Neither are any private sector employees or business owners.

We are all getting fricked in the arse by this, while govt workers continue on collecting income as per usual.

Apart from law enforcement, everybody else should go without pay and wait for their "stimulus check" like the rest of us.
