Not one post about the secession attempt in Alberta. Reports say there is tremendous support and Ottawa is getting nervous.

They came to sign a petition endorsed by the Alberta Prosperity Project. If around 177,000 signatures are collected and verified before early May, a referendum on Alberta statehood will come in the autumn. Dennis Modry, the former CEO of the APP, said that the real goal isn’t to hit 177,000 — it’s to get more than one million signatures.
They will probably get near that figure as well

My Canadian office will soon be in the USA. Welcome hosers.
Now we can knock down your salaries to the level of the parent company.
If you don't like it, you can stay in Canada and be poor.

Drove the ALCAN highway many years ago and crossed the border from Alberta into Montana. Had to do it during winter so didn't get to see that much.

Can we just do a swap with Canada? Alberta for Minnesota. Seems like a win win.

Dr Turley on YouTube has been covering this for a while now. This has been a long battle that seems to be growing towards that direction. It’s also not big news with Iran and Minnesota stuff going on right now .

I've been following this for about 6 months.
Everyone is dismissive of the effort outside of the Western Provinces.
"It's not real. It's fringe. It won't happen."
However, the a good portion of the taxes used for the Far Left Liberal policies in Ottawa are siphoned off from the more conservative provinces.
Economic progress and jobs are blocked.
Infrastructure investment requests are denied.
And the leaders in Ontario and Quebec continue to make false promises to the Western Provinces.
This dystopian scenario has been intensifying the last 5-10 years, and the resentment has been brewing for 30 years.
Alberta absolutely has the finances and ability to go independent.
And Saskatchewan knows that if they don't go with Alberta, they will be the last teat on the cow and will get milked to death. So, they'll likely go, too.
I'm not sure if Northern BC has enough people to out-vote Vancouver, but they are even more conservative than Alberta and Sas.
And Manitoba has had several pipelines denied by Ottawa (for no good reason) that would have helped them financially. So, they are less likely to join Alberta, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility.
Ottawa has been doing the same song and dance about promises, but that boat sailed when they replaced Trudeau with Carney. He's been even worse in trying to collaborate with the West.
The underlying issue is that Ottawa knows it can't survive financially without Alberta. So, it'll be a fight to the death to prevent succession.
The problem is that more than 75% of Albertans would vote to leave.
Not 52%... Not 60%.... an overwhelming majority.
It's not about if at this point. It is when.
They will fight in court for the next decade. Then, who knows.

The U.S. has supported secession many times, except in the 1860s.

Totally agree. Give Canada Minnesota, we take Alberta

There are a lot of great youtube channels that discuss it in detail.
David Frasier is a good one.

The Progressive Authoritarian WEF puppets in Ottawa would probably adore their comrades in Minnesota officially joining up.
Maybe the Vikings would have better luck winning their ever elusive first championship in the CFL.

This subject merits discussion.
Will Ottawa use its own Federal Canadian troops and military to quell this "state-secessionist mutiny"? Or just "borrow" US or UN "Global peacekeepers"?
The problem for an independent Alberta-Saskatchwan would be its land-locked location. Ideally it needs a port. Be nice if British Columbia or Manitoba joined the fray.

“Everything is wrong with Canada,” she said, adding that Alberta and Saskatchewan were given no choice or chance to negotiate when they entered Confederation — that the two provinces were, in her words, “colonized by Ottawa.”

I don’t think Alberta will secede but if they did, I would then expect Quebec to also. Quebec has historically come a lot closer to secession than Alberta. Quebec has different reasons than Alberta.

However, most of the commerce is done with the US.
Now, Trump is very supportive, but would Congress? would the next president? or the one after that?
There are plenty of land-locked countries in the world. That wouldn't be a deal breaker.
I doubt they get ratified as a US state. They are far right canada, but far left US.
It is interesting to follow, regardless.

So no one wants to actually be Canadian?

Absolutely. Are either Manitoba or BC game?

I can't imagine receiving official support from the US. But who know in this new global reset-timeline of invasions, annexations, and regime change moves.

Hear ya. I admit I don't know what the independence-from-Canada goal is here -- IS it to bluff their way into semi-independence from Ottawa? Join the US? Or become its own independent nation?

They seem to be freedom-loving centrist and common sense provinces. I'm pulling for them as well.

Nice assessment of the situation.

Why? When you poll Canadians and Americans about traditional issues (should there be a male head of household, free speech limits, healthcare) the results show that Canada's most conservative province (Alberta) scores further left than America's most liberal state (Vermont).
