Let’s say he just conducted a B&E...you justify two guys running him down, Forrest Gump style and murdering him?
Yes. Next question.

Why would it even matter? You can't go chasing people down with guns then shoot them when they defend themselves bare handed. Which he had every right to do, no matter how stupid that choice almost always is. Doesn't matter if he was the burgler or not.

I hiked to the top of the tallest point in Louisiana once, the vaunted 535 foot Driskill Mountain, in suit pants, tie and dress shoes.....but that's a story for another day.

No it doesn’t. So maybe the guy wasn’t a saint but he certainly did not deserve that. That’s why I typically wait for the facts to come out in a court of law. There’s one side and there is the other and the truth is somewhere in between. Video snippets can be taken out of context. But I don’t see any reason a guy should have been shot and killed for this unless he was running away from an active murder or a rape. Or something to that level. Anything less doesn’t deserve it.
Agree 100%
You conduct a B&E on my house, I have a right to shoot. What they did was completely wrong and should be in Jail or on death row.

Im not saying that it’s right, but the second he goes for the shotgun, it’s kill or be killed.
Here's the thing. If someone is holding a gun on you and their finger is on the trigger, DO NOT try to pull it out of their hands. If the gun moves toward you and the finger does not - the trigger moves with the gun and the thing goes off. It appears to me in the video that he is pulling the fricking gun toward his face. I'll bet he doesn't do that again.
One evening after work, I took a liberal friend to an outdoor shooting range so he could give shooting a try for the first time. We were the only people at the range and I started with a talk about gun safety. After shooting several magazines, he turned toward me. I looked down and saw the pistol pointed at my stomach with a round in the chamber, the hammer back, and his finger on the trigger. I gently placed the back of my open hand on the side of the pistol so it could not move further to his right, and then I stepped further to his right so the gun was no longer pointed at me. We then talked about gun safety again and I finished the talk by telling him that if he shot me we would be taking his Saab to the hospital and I would bleed all over his seat. Never try to take control of a loaded firearm if there is a finger on the trigger and something important downrange.

I generally agree, with the exception of the situation wherein it's reasonable to believe the trigger man has ill intent and is quite possibly planning on pulling the trigger. To attempt to disarm is possibly your only chance at not being shot and potentially killed, in which scenario doing something is better than doing nothing. Hard to know what one would do in such a real life scenario.

How on earth does this post have all downvotes? Do you people not understand when you can and cannot shoot somebody? I've gotta assume someone in there has taken a concealed carry course right? Were you awake?
If you're not defending your life, you don't get a get out of jail free card after pulling the trigger on somebody. Da fuk is wrong with you people? If you chase the dude down in your pickup like it's a 70's blacksploitation film you are absolutely going to jail if you kill that guy. And his right to stand his ground when he's not in your house is pretty much absolute in this situation.
Grow up you dumbasses. This is the kind of shite the anti gunners get maximum fuel out of and grow off of. Stop giving them a reason to believe their stereotypes about us.
These guys were dead wrong. That was probably a murder.

It appears Travis McMichael, Greg McMichael, and Bryan William were following, in pursuit burglary suspect with solid first hand probable cause, in their neighborhood, and asking/ telling him to stop. It appears their intent was to stop and hold this criminal suspect until law enforcement arrived. UnderGeorgia Law this is perfectly legal, George E Barnhill District Attorney

So what?
Does that negate his right to defend himself?
Does that authorize them to use lethal force against an unarmed man that they basically cornered?
Again...

Don't get me wrong here. I fully expect us to find out this dude was their burgler.
But that doesn't change his rights. And you need to remember that his are yours as well. Don't diminish them. Consider the possibilities here.

Weird. The GBI disagrees. And the police who arrived on the scene disagreed. They wanted to arrest.

If they find the stolen gun in his apartment will you admit he is a burglar?
Posted on 5/10/20 at 2:49 am to Caplewood
Meh. If the races were reversed you’d never hear of this and a criminal would still be dead.
Posted on 5/10/20 at 3:07 am to bstew3006
Yes, frick a thief. If the punishment for theft was death, the would be a lot less thefts and a lot fewer thiefs.

That isn’t why this is a big story. It is a big story because local law enforcement and the DA tried to lie about the events in order to avoid arresting these two and were only forced to because a tape exist.
Roles reversed this would still be a big story because of that.
