Ok bro.

Wondering why he ran around the truck and grabbed for the gun. Probably the absolute last thing I would do in that situation

The cop wouldn’t have drawn a weapon upon contact genius.

Ironically, that second quote can be read two different ways. In yours the stress is on "It was for him." I.e. going for the gun was the last thing he did, literally.
But in the other the stress would be on "It was for him." I.e. the gun was for him and he knew it (considering he was being chased at the time) thus I must think it was reasonable for him to suddenly be in a life or death situation. If I'm in that situation I'm safely assuming that non-uniformed person is intent on shooting me, and I'm not waiting for him to do it.

My opinions on this matter admittedly go well against most of the grain here.
I'm ready. Lol

So you believe you would be shot if you continue running and the best option is to turn and charge the gun?
That’s hilarious
If your goal is to get shot that’s the best choice

My cop brother in-law disagrees with your opinion rather strongly, but what does he know that you don't.

I believe Arbery and junior converged much more closely at the front of that truck than you're probably thinking, and that it was junior, not Arbery, who caused that close encounter by actively closing distance.

Safely? I wouldn't describe it that way.

Alright, scratch the safely and let's go straight assuming.
It would depend on all the circumstances and distance for me.
If the description of his history is accurate he was probably going to charge the guy, armed or not, regardless of what he thought their intentions were or weren't. He sounded like a violent punk, and they tend to act pretty consistently.
