The "Arm and Hammer" thing was a coincidence, but he was asked about it so much, he tried to purchase the brand on at least one occasion. Occidental's longtime attorney was one Albert Arnold Gore, Sr. OG Armand Hammer was a big Nixon booster (including illegal donations for which he ultimately pled guilty and was later pardoned by HW Bush).

His only son Julian Armand Hammer's son is Michael Armand Hammer (also associated with Occidental for many years), who is actor Armie Hammer's father.
