thought I read on here that Russia was an abortion factory. Was that wrong?
their rates are not vastly different than ours (14 versus 20), but their raw population is much lower than ours, meaning that the total number of abortions is also much lower.

There is also a lot more young, fertile women in respect to the population which lowers their rate below ours.

”A lot” is relative, but their median age is 42 to our 44

China has 1.6 billion people. They are doing whatever they can to promote methods that can help stop the population from increasing too much. Same for India. They've over a billion people.

What sort of surprises me is Pakistan and Egypt being on there.

I’m surprised Islamic nations allow abortions.

The population is irrelevant since it’s normalized per 1000

The numbers are what they are. I don't really care, so long as government keeps it mitts out of an issue where it has no business involving itself.

I was just shaking my head at the poster who did not understand that the OP chart included both raw numbers AND per capita data.

You don’t believe the government has a responsibility to protect the sanctity of life?

I have no interest in dancing this same Bollywood performance yet again.

SoCons love to insert government into things that THEY support. Leftists love the same. Two sides of the same statist coin.

The number of areas in which government SHOULD be involved is ... very limited. This ain't one of them, no matter how much emotional language you attempt to insert into the discussion.

Whole lot of murder going on.

Except it's not murder. But I've realized I'll never change your opinion on it nor will you change mine so it's a fruitless argument.

Interesting that Europe is completely missing from this list.

What are they doing that we cannot?

Id imagine having healthcare including contraception available to everyone and the fact that sex isn't a taboo subject over there so parents talk to their kids about it openly, educate them, and young girls that are sexually active get the birth control they need

In most of those countries the women are not treated like they are in the western world. A man doesnt give a shat about protection cause the woman will have to care for the kid and she isnt going to tell him no...unless she wants the treatment.

And when you are worrying about feeding the kids you have, I doubt spending money on birth control is top of the list....nor is there a walgreens on every corner in the Congo.
