Tommy didn't ask him about "ties to the MB." I wish he had. I would be interested to hear his answer to those allegations.
Tommy asked "Will you disavow the Muslim Brotherhood?" El-Sayed answered directly: "Absolutely."
Then El-Sayed used the opportunity to point out that Tommy was a religious bigot who doesn't appreciate the Constitution.

He never outright disavowed the Muslim Brotherhood he just said ‘sure’ then danced around it with a word salad. Tommy wasn’t forceful enough either he got walked all over by a smooth talker.

I think “Tommy” is not used to being under the gun. Not really his problem as much as Abdul’s and being able to explain how his own mother is connected to a terrorist group.

I don’t think ‘Tommy’ is a paid plant. Two questions to ask any Muslim are:
Will you condemn Hezbollah and Hamas?
Will you condemn wearing a keffiyeh?
Many will dance around both of those with vague answers or word salads just like Abdul did.
