Hard to believe that generic ballot national polls aren't very accurate. Who would have guessed?

quote:

If this was a national referendum on President Donald Trump, he’d be set for a thumping, or a shellacking, or whatever word a president not named Trump might select in conceding defeat.

But it isn’t. Therein lies the core of Democrats’ concerns with 22 days to go, as they worry that a whole lot of their midterm enthusiasm will wind up wasted in places they don’t need the extra votes.

The new ABC News/Washington Post poll reveals the potential electoral consequences of the very different slices of the nation that are voting in the midterms.

Nationwide, Trump has a 41 percent approval rating, and Democrats have a 53-42 percent edge in the generic ballot for the House. But inside the 66 districts that are tossups, or only leaning toward one party or the other — the majority makers, or breakers — that lead evaporates into a 46-47 Democrats v. Republicans race.

He might lose the popular vote in 2020 by 5 or 6 million.

And is still likely to be re-elected.

The melt is going to be worse than after the last election. They still have no idea what is coming for them.

Most overused word in the midterm post mortem will be "overreached".

Just not believing that over half of the country would send DEM reps to DC. That is alarming. Keeping the House would be orgasmic.

That's not what that article is actually saying.

If these districts split evenly on election day, Democrats take control of the House. I'll take it.

I think I see how ABC is getting their number of 66 districts toss-up and lean districts and I acknowledge that the poll is showing they are close.

If these 66 districts actually do split evenly on election day, how many seats do you think Democrats pick up? I think the even split would put Democrats at about +36.

Possibly, but I don't think so. The point is that the generic ballot narrative the MSMs been pushing for so long is worthless. All politics is local.

There's no blue wave coming. And that's pretty sad for the D's considering how heavily this ballot is weighted in your favor.

Don't be suprised when you wake up on 11/7 with the Rs still in control of the House.

We’re almost a month out.

I’d guess Republicans keep control of the House.

Taking the house won't be enough to satisfy the Dems so we're gonna see a pretty big melt regardless. Not sure which way the house will go but pretty confident republicans keep the senate.

The odds of the Democrats taking control of either chamber are as low today as when I first started saying how low they were. Nothing has changed.
