A wild idea about the missing plane

So, a veteran pilot I know comes into the gym. We start discussing the missing plane. I assert that it's impossible for a jet to blow up without leaving debris. He said there is another way but it's far fetched. Goes like this...
The hijackers take over the cockpit and turn of the transponder off (and some other electrical stuff I didn't understand).
Then they reduce altitude to just above ground level so that radar can't pick them up.
Then they land at a predetermined remote area...like Siberia.
The govt of the host country would have to be in on the deal. The passengers can be taken hostage or shot.
Me: "What would be the motive?"
Him: "Beats me. But it is possible to do."

did this occur in daylight or darkness.
even in daylight pretty hard to do terrain folllowing in a 777.

Wow, I don't know what time the disappearance occurred.

most likely scenario is that they flew into a time rip

Could have been aliens. Or Daleks.

The guy also said that a hijack would explain why no SOS went out.
Me: So, how did the hijackers get into the cockpit?
Him: Maybe they were already there. Maybe they were the pilot and co-pilot.
Me: Hmmm, Malaysia is a majority Muslim population.
Him: There ya go.

That would make his scenario more doable.

Didn't they say that there was 7 hours of fuel on board? You could make North Korea with that much. Probably not Siberia.

I know absolutely nothing about planes, but why in the world would they allow for the transponder to be turned off, I would think it would be tamper proof?

we have SOOO many satelites. How are they not able to put this together?

This.
Or the same aliens that nabbed Flight 19 in 1945 got them, too.

Yeah, I know nothing about them either but you would think access to turn the transponder off would be difficult.

EgyptAir 990.
quote:
The cockpit voice recorder (CVR) recorded the Captain excusing himself to go to the lavatory, followed thirty seconds later by the First Officer saying in Egyptian Arabic "Tawkalt ala Allah", which translates to "I rely on God." A minute later, the autopilot was disengaged, immediately followed by the First Officer again saying, "I rely on God." Three seconds later, the throttles for both engines were reduced to idle, and both elevators were moved three degrees nose down. The First Officer repeated "I rely on God" seven more times before the Captain suddenly asked repeatedly, "What's happening, what's happening?" The flight data recorder reflected that the elevators then moved into a split condition, with the left elevator up and the right elevator down, a condition which is expected to result when the two control columns are subjected to at least 50 pounds (23 kg) of opposing force.[1] At this point, both engines were shut down by moving the start levers from run to cutoff. The Captain asked, "What is this? What is this? Did you shut the engines?" The First Officer did not respond. The Captain repeatedly stated, "Pull with me" but the FDR data indicated that the elevator surfaces remained in a split condition (with the left surface commanding nose up and the right surface commanding nose down) until the FDR and CVR stopped recording. There were no other aircraft in the area. There was no indication that an explosion occurred on board. The engines operated normally for the entire flight until they were shut down. From the presence of a western debris field about 1,200 feet (370 m) from the eastern debris field, the NTSB concluded that the left engine and some small pieces of wreckage separated from the airplane at some point before water impact

That is nuts. Why take a whole plane with you?

I was just using Siberia as an example. It could be any remote spot big enough to land.

Not to threadjack, but I pulled out the telescope last night and saw two satelites within a 20 minute period. What are the odds of that happening? I thought, "Dayum, must be getting crowded up there."

Is it possible the plane just had a malfunction happen so quickly that nobody could call for help?

The pilot can do it according to my friend. The pilot could be the hijacker.

That doesn't explain lack of debris.
BTW, one really easy thing to find out is the ethnicity and religion of the pilots. Malaysia has 3 groups...
Malay is the majority and in control of govt. They are Muslims.
Chinese are a minority group and are mostly Buddhist.
Indians are another minority and are Hindu.
