Whether the Jews who moved to establish in Israel in 1948 were Khazars or not they most certainly were not of primarily Hebraic descent.
1. There are a great number of other researchers published in various Genetics Journals who found otherwise.
2. Apparently it is impossible for a few thousand jews to become millions in 1500 years, but completely possible for a few thousand Khazar aristocrats to become millions of jews.
3. You base that last statement on what?

The Jewish state was carved from lands occupied by Palestinians because there was a serious Jewish repatriation problem in Europe, and those Jews could not have taken Israel without American and British mandates, money, and armed support.
From FY1949-1958 the United States provided Israel with zero military assistance. From FY 1959-1973 the only military assistance the United States provided Israel was loans to purchase military equipment. It is only since FY 1974 that the United States has provided Israel with direct military assistance. And the assistance was due to the fact that Israel was attacked by several Soviet client countries in 1973. It was Cold War motives that led to American support for Israel rather than any sort of Jewish influence on American policies.

America's role in the Vietnam War was winding down during this time and the demand for military hardware was taking a hit so what better way is there to increase the demand than to convince Congress that Israel needs U.S. weapons to survive? U.S. taxpayers pay the bill. Members of Congress accept legal bribes from lobbyists like prostitutes. Israel is happy. Military contractors are happy and most U.S. taxpayers are oblivious due to the distractions coming from Watergate and the last days before the fall of Saigon.
That's the general scenario.

Remember when the bones, suspected of being of caucasian descent, were found on an indian reservation. There was some evicence they may have predated the first known native Amercians. The Indians sued, Bill Clinton dallied, bones disappeared. Finally it was decided that PC superseded science. The bones were turned over to the tribe who immediately destroyed them. ;)

Rex, I've spent the last couple of days reading up about the Khazarian empire. Truly fascinating chapter in history to read about.
But, while the Khazarians may have ultimately interspersed with the descendant Hebrews that dispersed out of Isreal across Europe, Asia and Russia, I find little evidence to suggest that they constituted enough of a contribution to disregard the Semetic lineage of the Jews that resettled modern Israel in the 20th Century.
Very interesting to learn about, though.
