A really cool Mississippi flag design

It's based on the Seal of the Mississippi Territory. 1798. Which, funnily enough, had the word Mississippi misspelled. The cast, made in Philadelphia (then the nation's capital) had it spelled: Missisippi. Marking the first, but not the last, time that folks in the North misrepresented the state.
The Native Inhabitants are represented in the ripples on the top - the Mississippi river was the life force. The Great River. Father Allouez, a Jesuit priest, when exploring the country from Quebec to Lake Superior, in 1669, first heard of a great river (which proved to be the Mississippi River) called Mecassheba. Original, Mi-ko Si-ah, King I am. It forms the Western border of the state.
The vertical lines on the crest are in threes: the three nations that ruled over the Territory at one time or another. The Spanish. The French. The British.
In God We Trust is written out in significant type. This typeface was produced by the first William Caslon’s grandson, William Caslon Junior, and his type foundry in around 1816. Simply called 'Two Lines English Egyptian,' it was the first san serif typeface created. At the time they were referred to as Grotesques. It would have been available to the original Mississippi flag designer at the time of statehood (1817), imported as wood or lead sorts.
Finally, the star. It represents True North. Or truth. The state is headed in the right direction. If all her people can seek out truth, and live that out amongst themselves and their neighbors, she will truly be as great at the river on which she draws life.

Someone will allege that the one star is for the confederacy, like Arkansas's flag, and true or not, that'll be the end of it.

May as well leave out "In God We Trust" if they want this flag to last awhile. After the statues are gone, religion is the next thing they will bitch about.

OMG it has God on it that can't be allowed. BLM and Satan yes God no!

Looks GREAT. Which means it stands zero chance.

By State law, doesn't it HAVE to have God in it?

This is the ONLY flag I've seen so far that I could get behind vs. the "old" flag.

I like the blue color from Bonnie Blue maybe with a nice clear idealized magnolia in the center instead of the star. Around the magnolia could be a ring of stars either 11 for its time in the Confederacy or it's star count when it first entered the union as a state.

It was the Grand Bargain with the Dixicrats/Fundamentalist, we have a large segment of our population that will never be satisfied without excluding someone, them pesky blacks got too much political clout these days but there are not many non-Christians in MS to push back so it is their turn.
Bottom of the barrel white trash has to have someone to look down on, its the only thing that keeps them going.

Looks like a soccer league emblem.

Of those floated so far it isn’t too bad and better than most.

Hate it, like the old one better.

Old one is definitely better and still on display on the front of my truck..
They should just put the old one up for vote along with the new designs voters keep it then leave it alone. Still pissed at those pussies in Jackson for what they did.

This was my favorite of the designs I saw
Old one was definitely one of the best looking state flags in the US just based on appearance alone IMO
