The thing is, I don't even think people were charmed by the promise of "socialism." Major Dem candidates distanced themselves from DSA talking points and instead focused on normie stances. "Groceries are too expensive. Tariffs make it worse. Let's not do that" was a massive plank in El Sayed's platform. "Prescription drug prices are high because PBMs are in cahoots with the healthcare monopolies" was Talarico's stance. That isn't promising socialism, that's just telling people that you know shite is expensive and you want to help.

You had the Rush Limbaugh(in terms of influence) of the youngest voting generation tell his listeners to vote blue.
Why? Because the GOP thought they could continue the same game theyve played the last 50 years where they look out for the interests of everyone but their voters.
Eventually this game was going to end. You cant keep breaking the contract over and over and over and expect the other side to keep their end of the deal

People desperately want to believe this is the case...but its really just cope. Young men just decided that it was worth dealing with pain for a while in order to have a chance at a future later. Sometimes you take the loss for a chance to win down the road.
