I agree, but I will point out that the US continued to do business with the Third Reich throughout the 30’s while ignoring the increasing mistreatment of Jews. Thomas Watson of IBM even made quite a profit helping the Nazis to tabulate a list of Jewish citizens (and accepted a medal from Hitler for doing so).

In fact Roosevelt’s tariffs on German imports over their protectionist trade policies drew the protests of many of the business community’s leaders after the invasion of France over fears that losing business with a German-controlled continental Europe could be devastating for the US. The British blockade of Nazi ports soon made it a moot point though.
