This seems to be a midterm play. I expect these “long term unemployed” fed workers to be on commercials in the fall

“I was once a public servant, trump destroyed my financial well being”

Unfortunately it will play well with women and others.

quote:

NBC News spoke with 13 former federal employees and contractors who were laid off during the DOGE job cuts or took the “Fork in the Road” buyout offered by Elon Musk. Seven are unemployed, two are re-employed but making far less than they previously did, two have side hustles and four have moved to find work.

WellFed, an organization that supports former federal workers, estimates just 25% of its members have found new jobs. OneAID, an organization of former USAID workers and their implementing partners, estimates at least 50% of its membership is still unemployed.

“Laid-off workers are now moving into a category that is long-term unemployment. The unemployment checks have stopped. They’re having trouble with health care,” said WellFed co-founder and program director Rebecca Ferguson-Ondrey, who herself lost her job at the Administration for Children and Families almost a year ago.

In the Washington, D.C., region, where almost 10% of the workforce works directly for the federal government, and many more for federal contractors, these job losses were keenly felt.

I can sympathize with people looking for a new job, but that's part of life. If they are indeed public servants, then they should understand that the day may come when, for one reason or another, their service is no longer required. Why would anyone, particularly the news media, believe that government employees are exempted from downsizing?

My a-hole bleeds for them.

DC has been insulated from the pain felt by the rest of the country for years with regards to economic downturns. I don’t particularly care if laid off fed employees or people working at organizations no longer getting USAID money are SOL.

Welcome to Real Life 101 - Liberals should try it one day

Funny how they always leave out the fact that they all received very very very healthy severance packages - THEY ALWAYS SEEM TO LEAVE THIS PART OUT WHEN THEY ARE BITCHING AND MOANING ABOUT HOW MUCH THEY ALL SUCK AS HUMANBEINGS

I've been laid off many times in my 33 years of working. Never had a fricking news network report it as news. I figured it out. Those folks can do the same!
Sometimes life sucks and it's never fair.
Deal with it.

Isn’t this the exact reason our government is failing? We have people on the payrolls that think it’s a lifetime appointment when getting a job and don’t earn their place daily, like the rest of the non-government workforce does.

Everyone knows they are leaches on our taxes that don't have to perform like the rest of us do.

And a lot of the gov jobs that do matter could be accomplished with a reduced workforce + harder work - like 5 hours of effort a day instead of 2.

So their skills were only good for Govt jobs? Should have gotten better degrees with their student loan debt that they will never pay off.

So? Grow a fricking pair of balls. Put together a counter ad.

“I am a private sector employee, and the fraud-infested government sector has destroyed my ability to earn a decent wage”
