Are women being subsidized far more than men? Minorities? Sure. But women?
They are in STEM, but that's also the area that has lagged in seeing growth of women studying it.
I will say this, if you want to be an engineer, but you also want to meet women, the Civil Engineering classes are always STACKED compared to every other engineering discipline. Even biological engineering, which is often taken by folks planning on attending medical school, tends to lag behind the Civil Engineering classes for talent. Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, etc are all sausage parties because no matter how much encouragement or money they try to throw at young women in high school to encourage them to pursue engineering, very few have any interest.

That's because programming is as much about communication, organization and process as the actual language. There are a ton of kids that have the knowledge of programming languages and persistence to create a program or code a website on their own. What many lack is the ability to communicate and work in a dev team. They aren't able to take direction, write clean code or document their work in a way that helps their team. Those are the CS flunkies you're referring to.
The big thing is aptitude though. People are saying that someone that has the traits desired by employers is able to find many of the resources to become competent online. I am sitting through developer interviews right now and nobody says they're gonna go take a class when they have to learn something new. They all say they're going to YouTube and consulting the documentation. You can do both of those things without the piece of paper.

I recruit engineers, and this is a fact. Oddly, Chemical Engineering is next.

Ehhh, I'm not gonna go quite that far. One of the reasons it's an easy place to make a killing at the moment is the incredible rate of substance addiction in the workforce.
If you are sober and do even decent work you are in the top 20%

Most college educated guys these days are in debt, broke and recently had their power turned off by a guy who elected to go to a trade school instead...

My sons age group is about 50/50 for the white kids and 25/75 for the black and Mexican kids.
My son will be going in to a HVAC apprentice program his best friend is going into an electrician apprentice program.

Good man. My son did the same thing. He’s 22, no debt. He’s got more spending money than I do

I told my little sister to go to college to be a nurse, which she is doing, because if you don't know by now from the endless stream of tik tok videos during a pandemic; nursing is one of the easiest fields of work with a strong 6 figure salary, respect, job security, and ability to work anywhere
I would not tell my kids to go to college or join the military like my parents told me. I would tell them to work a construction trade and start when they were 18, and teach them how to manage their money

I do agree that if you are a white male, you better be looking somewhere outside of corporate America for sustained career success.
