Just looked up the data and the 2021 class size at Michigan was 170.

Op was commenting on how large a class 340 students was.. my point was that was not a typical college class.. that was the white coat ceremony which is the entire entering class for the medical school… and not a college class like geology 101…

She didn't mention abortion

But as had been pointed out, it wouldn't have mattered. As soon as she began to speak, they got up and left. She's could have been talking about a recipe for homemade cat-head cheese biscuits and they wouldn't have heard her.

To leave because someone has some different beliefs is as weak and childish as it gets.

I know. And I'm saying that is a large size for the entering class for medical school.

I doubt anyone that refers to being in favor of abortions as being an advocate or reproductive rights, as having a brain. That's like saying you're fighting for your own life, but then you go kill yourself. These students are not fit for working in medicine.

Students had previously attempted to pressure the administration to cancel the speech of Dr. Kristin Collier, a pro-life assistant professor of medicine at the university; they submitted a petition claiming that the choice of her as a speaker made them “doubt whether the school will continue to advocate for reproductive rights.”

The one thing the “tolerant” and “inclusive” left cannot stand is even the slightest dissent to their agenda.

These kids are stuck in perpetual egocentrism. They probably still hold their breath and turn blue too.

That's because their arguments don't hold up to scrutiny.

Once challenged, everything they believe is proven to be bullzhit, the only alternative is to run or throw a tantrum.

Depending how they categorized students in the medical scientist program and other dual-degree programs, that is far more reasonable. According to this link, I don't know how much of their program is double counted in the figures, as in if the students in the MSTP program are counted as part of the total medical school enrollment, as 170 per year over four years would be 680. Michigan is a large enough research university that they might count those students separately, but given their total class sizes, they might count dual-degree programs twice, once for the medical school at large and once for the specific program they are in, if that makes sense.

That would still be a massive medical school class.

The only places that tend to go very large are Caribbean schools.

340 is unusually large for a US incoming class.

It's kind of crazy that all these individuals are entering a profession where their daily duty is to save lives.

Yet they act like being pro-life makes someone a devil-worshipper or a Nazi.

These are people who don't have the ability to fight off a challenge in ideological lines. These are linear thinkers, everything has been provided to them. Their world is fact based and systematic, they aren't the types to think outside the box. They just react like they are programmed. If someone tells them anti abortion is evil, they automatically believe it.

Maybe so? It certainly raises questions. How will those future docs treat pro-life patients?

This is what Leftist "tolerance" and "diversity" looks like. Notice, they do not include anything non-woke in those definitions.

This isn't about "reprodutive rights". The speaker (AFAICT) is not anti-contraception.

So the bigger question is... Why should a medical school be an advocate for abortion? If I was a student there, I'd want them to focus on educating me.

Next time you hear of support from “the entire medical community”, just remember they have an agenda that extends beyond patient health and are willing to act together to drive it.

And their agenda is at odds with their Hippocratic oath

Neither will I administer a poison to anybody when asked to do so, nor will I suggest such a course. Similarly I will not give to a woman a pessary to cause abortion.

In other words, Med Students tend to be more close-minded than the Conservative Christians they cast as the boogeyman?

I believe it....
