As a SQL programmer myself I can appreciate this...
But most likely an organization that inefficient and out of date is using COBOL
I saw an interview with Musk a few weeks back and he stated that a lot of the Gov. systems is COBOL.

Working in a hospital, I've seen families keep their elderly parents alive as long as they can to collect SS checks. I'm talking people in their late nineties on ventilators.

We'll find out pretty soon if those checks were going to legit people. If not, then we need to know why there were all those excess numbers.

Family members were cashing in on those checks...

Where in the post was this stated?

Removed from the database, or removed from receiving benefits?
I think it’s the former. I think the amount of them actually receiving benefits was a fraction.
Still way too many. But for the sake of clarity.

That clown doesn't have a firm
Correct. If he is ostensibly a lawyer, he’s got a shingle hung in a strip mall or a rented/converted 1950s 2BR 1BA house in a gentrified slum a mile from the courthouse. His receptionist, if he has one, is also his paralegal.

There weren't any. Title of thread is misleading
The thread title is misleading, but that also doesn't mean that no checks were going out.
Out of that many people, it is almost a certainty that there was some level of fraud going on, either from family members still getting the checks, or stolen identities. Even if a small amount, you can't say there was not "any"

This is a roster purge - more helpful in preventing future fraud than anything.
I was thinking the purge might facilitate fraud. You now have millions of numbers available for new, fabricated claims.

Is there evidence these "people" actually received benefits? Were checks sent out?
DOGE would be spiking the football so hard with huge $$$ numbers if they had them. How hard is it to see how many checks were sent?
A roster purge without checks sent is just database cleanup.

While we're purging these nonliving folks from SSI, let's also purge them from the voter rolls.

Actually no one has been getting the payments. But, damn if it doesn't seem like it at times.

That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

Every American should have a passport. No vote without a passport, that way no non-citizens can vote.

DOGE is all up in the database. Let’s see proof of how many checks were sent.
