how demented do you have to be to call defense spending, one of the few things that is actually the constitutional role of the federal government, welfare. Also, simply taxing our corporations at the same rate as literally every other developed country in the world instead of at twice the rate is corporate welfare? Seriously, be patriotic and kill yourself. You are useless
just because it has a constitutional role, doesn't mean you should continually throw more and more money at it. no reason to spend as much as we do on defense.

If you remove one word you'll finally get the outrage from some that we should already have from everyone.

Navy Civil Engineers + Seabees would have that wall built under budget and ahead of schedule...take it to the bank

Yeah, you're out of your fricking mind and have no idea what you're talking about.

Yet again, supply acquisition, equipment required, and manning would make it a complete nightmare.

Welfare is for people who sit on their arse providing NO SERVICE or BENEFIT for this country. It is to take care of those who REFUSE to take care of themselves.

Wrong. Most welfare goes to people who work, but the pay isn't enough. USDA rural housing service has a budget that is mind-boggling and it is for the working poor. Most food subsidy are going to people who work. You have a flawed perception of this basic social service.

Don't sell republicans short - they like plenty of individual handouts also.

It is the governments role to provide a military, yes. But nothing in the Constitution says that it has to be as large at it is. To basically support an entire industry that has grown around it and always, always expands (like the gov!).

Which is irrelevant when it wouldn’t see the F35 and would just see missile warnings popping up left and right

A lot of the F35s cost is electronic warfare development and implemention, which wouldn’t disappear if you instead tried to apply it to the older platforms

when your military is already the size of the next 10 largest already, increasing spending is 100% welfare

We have to maintain the equipment we already have, sport. We also have to modernize our armed forces. For example, our B-52 crews are about half the age of the aircraft that they are flying. A strong military is an essential deterrent, but don't worry so much about wasteful spending. Wasteful spending was a talking point for Trump during the election campaign. He got this.

Ever heard of IRST?

BVR wont mean a hell of a lot when an AWACS can vector in fighters with their radars off and IRST sensors receiving an F-35's ever growing IR signature as it burns off fuel.

$140 million dollar boondoggle than can only carry 4 AMRAAM's then has to run like hell to survive.

You better hope your precious F-35 doesnt make to the merge. Dead man walking.

I dont know. Yes we probably spend too much but we as a nation expect to be able to fight and win against any other country.

You're incorrect. We don't expect to be able to fight and win against any country, but against EVERY country, EVERYwhere, ANY time.
