Same thing happened to me in west texas recently. Hadn't been pulled over in 10 years. He was kind of an arse about the speed limit. Tone was pretty rough. Informed me of 4 different places its posted. None were in the section I was on.

Our rural deputies don’t write somebody up until they’re 15 over, and even then the sheriff will tear up your first ticket. They also throw out personal use weed if you don’t have other dope in the car.

You shouldn't grab anything when pulled over before they approach you as they don't know way you're reaching for.

Two months ago almost the exact same scenario except I passed a sheriff detective in a tricked out Dodge pickup at about 80-85 way out in the woods. He gave me a warning and laughed at my age and asked me to keep it below my years 68. You know he had no ticket book and he wasn't gonna wait for one to show up.
