Damn. I wonder if there will be a huge pile on now or if they will spread it out over a couple months?
This is so ugly for the Admin.
That kind of depends on the administration, now doesn't it?
They can do something else to get this out of the news but I think they're low on things they can do which won't end up as a total clusterfrick like this.
Maybe they'll try to jumpstart the Israeli-Palestinian talks again, despite the fact that Fatah and Hamas have re-merged in violation of the Oslo Accords.

Today I've been thinking about how the Obama admin can get out of this.
I can think of multiple ways they could get out of it without the Rose Garden thing. That's the wrench in the gears.
I'm thinking the only way that Obama can clear this out is to make Bergdahl a victim. They have to make him a guy broken by the evils of war who acted irrationally under extreme mental stress. Basically, they have to say he lost it.
Once they frame it this way (if it takes root), then anyone that speaks against him is being insensitive to a serviceman broken by war.
Framing it this way will also make the Rose Garden event look like Obama supporting a mom and dad who had a son broken by war.
I'm curious to see if this is the play.

We weren't going to hold these guys forever. Might as well get something out of it. They've been out of the loop for a decade. It's doubtful they're of much operational value at this point.
ETA: and this is being politicized by the right every bit as much as you all are saying Obama is, so no matter what the outcome, it's going to be polarizing. The plan was always to let this work out through the UCMJ, as was done with Vietnam POW Robert Garwood. But now it's going to be a big political shitstorm, which is what the usual suspects always try to turn everything into.

The interviews were facilitated by a public relations firm, Capitol Media Partners, co-owned by Republican strategist Richard Grenell.
Capitol Media Partners is a two-man partnership. One founding partner is Grenell.
The other is Brad Chase:
"In 2012, Chase ran the media and communications strategy for the international campaign to free Jason Puracal, a U.S. citizen wrongly imprisoned as a political hostage for 22 months in Nicaragua. His efforts generated international media exposure - including CNN’s AC360, The Associated Press, Reuters and The Today Show - an integral part of winning Puracal’s eventual release." Hmm, no Fox there.
But wait ...
"Additionally, Chase served as Press Secretary for the Democratic nominee in a special election for the U.S. House of Representatives seat in California’s 48th district."
Uh-oh ...

Don't be surprised when more Taliban video comes out with Bergdahl not doing very "hero" like things

I'll just post it right now. I hold Bergdahl with the same contempt that I hold Manning. The only difference is that Bergdahl's bullshite directly resulted in the deaths of Soldiers.
If the brass attempt to go after the Soldiers and force NJP on them, if they're smart, they'll request a trial by courts martial. The discovery process will not end well if that happens.

Would they dare go after the families of those who DIED looking for him?

The only argument for this report is the lack of real reporting done by the media which is valid but short sighted.
The "real reporting" used to be done by people called journalists who got their facts straight and verified before they published their stories. Today any fool can go on line and publish whatever crap he pleases without fear of consequences.

I think the "he was a broken soldier" is the only way to go for the WH as said above.
Then go after the repubs for taking political advantage.
Bring up soldiers with similar conditions from "Bush's war" all the while playing up the "they would have been released soon anyway" angle.

I read somewhere on I site I thought was generally impartial that Bergdahl's unit was a bunch of frick-ups. If I find it again, I'll post a link. If Bergdahl is being swiftboated, his fellow soldiers who are speaking out are certainly going to be "Joe, The Plummered."
