And this fumb arse thinks "well regulated" refers to regulating those with guns.

He doesnt even realize because of his blindness that it means to be armed as need be against all threats foreign and domestic by "We the People".

Regulated--set to an external standard. For our founding fathers it meant be armed to the tooth against anyone who wished to threaten out new way of life.

Liberals are loathsome to a degree no sector of society could match. It is their ignorance and willingness to hand over their rights for safety.

As described in my previous post, the state militia's (i.e. organized militia as opposed to unorganized militia) were last called up by the federal government during the Spanish American War.

In the Militia Act of 1903, all of the state militias were converted from basically being a spontaneous draft force of all able-bodied men, to the semi-professional force we now know of as the National Guard.

Since then, National Guard units have fought, and continue to do so, in literally every war and police action the U.S. has ever fought in.

Just because the state organized militia was converted to the National Guard by statute does not mean that the intent of the 2nd Amendment was thrown out the window. We still have the draft in our back pockets in the event an armed conflict erupts that our volunteer army is unable to deal with. Having as many of those potential draftees as possible already trained in the care and use of firearms simply makes the training process that much faster and easier.

The unorganized militia is still every able-bodied citizen.

It's far easier to change the meaning of words over time to fit one's policy aims than it is to get a 2/3 majority in both houses of Congress and ratified by 3/4 of all state legislatures.

Point of clarification. There were instances that it was a requirement of citizenship to own a firearm to participate in a militia and also to assist in law enforcement. We have defined militia in present context rather than what it was during the founding of our Nation.

You can toss the prefatory clause aside and the operative clause makes perfect sense.

But not the other way around.
