1 - big banks would love the whole bond thing.
Insurance companies typically do such bonding but why does it matter? There will be far fewer trials if both sides have cash in the game.

2 - a jury of peers is far more appropriate than a panel of judges. Judges can be bought, and often are.
No way---yes judges are bought and sold but a panel of five educated men--appoint them don't elect them--is better than 12 typical South Carolina Wal Mart shoppers when you are talking huge numbers.

seems to me that the American consumers of this product are “fueling” the purported “epidemic.”
When there is no demand, there will be no supply.
So you're telling us a gun ban would be useless.

What do they do with it once seized, besides keeping some for evidentiary purposes?
26 tons is a lot.

Why is there just a big demand for fentanyl?
Because junkies have a huge tolerance to heroin these days.

Oh, so no dopeheads mean no need to sell dope.
Brilliant.

There are ways to end this shite once and for all.
ONE..XI lied. Turn the screws even harder on Won Hung Low and let them know this is not going to be tolerated. NO drugs sent to North America, period. We will destroy their economy if they insist on being opium lords
TWO..The company transporting the poison is banned from ever doing business in the US. You let the Danes know that if this becomes a pattern we will ban THEM.
THREE..Thank the Mexican Government for good work done. Let them know that the US stands ready to destroy the Sinaloa and any other cartel working on their soil in partnership with them at any time they so choose. They have been stepping up down there recently and reward good behavior.
FOUR..Accelerate efforts at the border..Build the wall and increase security.
FIVE..DEMAND must be reduced, it is a serious problem, as is supply. Vastly increase efforts to go after distributors here in the US, and we must do much more to salvage many of those than can be that are addicted. Those than can't, must be dealt with in some manner.

Agreed.
They should be euthanized along with fentanyl producers and distributors.

quote:Just to be clear, 1-2mg is a general anesthetic induction dose used for Heart Surgery. It's a very safe drug as long as someone is there to slip in an endotracheal tube and ventilate you for several hours. Taken intravenously without ventilatory support, 1/4th of that dose would be enough to stop breathing (aka lethal) for most people.
2 milligrams of fentanyl, a lethal dose for most people

So Americans are wanting Fentanyl?
I think that you are misinformed. As noted in the thread, dealers want this drug as a means to increase profits.
If this is being done without the users awareness or consent, then how are the consumers complicit?
I get that this is an illegal activity, and therefore a different set of criteria may be applied (putting trust in a criminal is dumb). However, I have a hard time believing that these users ask for fentanyl.
As for uour thoughts on whether or not this is an epidemic, we obviously have a different view concerning the term.

Users want to use.
Fentanyl would seem a poor choice for an addict.
Relatively short duration and low psychogenic effect c/w morphine, heroin, opium, etc.
But it is far more potent, making it valuable even when smuggled in small quantities.

End drug prohibition. Problem solved.
It’s a bigger disaster than alcohol prohibition was. Drug prohibition creates the violent black market with inflated prices. It drives the market for alternate, synthetic, deadly substances with no quality control or consistency, which causes the overdoses.
Legalize all drugs and you can buy safe, consistent drugs off the shelf like alcohol.
