Current Map:

A draft proposal of Georgia's new congressional boundaries released by two top Senate Republicans would make one Democratic metro Atlanta swing seat safer while drawing the other into more GOP-friendly exurbs.
The plan, unveiled Monday by Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan and redistricting committee chair Sen. John Kennedy, will not likely be the final version that lawmakers will vote on in November's special session but gives a good starting point to see potential changes.
While the map was not initially released with accompanying data, a GPB News analysis of the proposed lines imported into Dave's Redistricting App shows few incumbents would see a dramatic boost in the safety of their districts, except Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux in Georgia's 7th. Under this proposal, the new 7th voted for President Joe Biden by about 24 points last year, as opposed to about six points under the current lines.
The 7th would sit almost completely within Gwinnett County, appearing to run mostly south of Interstate 85 and include portions of Johns Creek in Fulton County.
But Rep. Lucy McBath in the 6th Congressional District would face a tougher road to reelection, with her district swinging from Biden +12 to Trump +6 in last year's election. This is accomplished by removing parts of East Cobb and all the DeKalb County portions of the district, while adding in Sandy Springs, Buckhead and including Republican-friendly Forsyth County to the mix.

I don't like Athens-Clarke County being reunited into one district. They were smart to split that liberal bastion into two districts in order to reduce those liberal's influence. This could create problems for the 10th district. Especially since Jodie Hice is stepping down.

Even with A-CC going fully into the 10th, that new district still voted for Trump by 26 points (62-36 split).

The proposed district 9 looks a lot better for Gwinnett. North Gwinnett is a lot different than the rest of the county.

District 12 for the win.

I would be happy if Atlanta was it's own district. Don't let those city lefties get any additional seats than possible.

Many of those people live outside the city limits.

That won't survive a court challenge. Lacks its fair share of inclusivity.

Seems reasonable, as the city itself is about the population of one congressional district. The suburbs were mostly red as recently as 2014 but are as azure as Ella Fitzgerald's swimming pool today.

That 6th would be great

MTG's district marching south towards ATL.

Gerrymandering will be the downfall of the system. They create district with unimpeachable R or D candidates. I'm always amazed how they've left this task to political hacks they generate these districts to get political results.

ATL's population is about 500,000 while a CD is roughly 765,000.

Adding Appling to 1 will help counter the liberal bent growing on the coast. I suspect it is 80+ GOP.

They’ll have to drag Sanford Bishops arse from his seat to the pine box for burial before he leaves that seat. The only time we ever hear from his sorry POS arse is when he runs for re-election. I’ve asked every government welfare seeking pos I meet to name one thing that bastard has ever done and they have no response

Liberal checklist:
*Threatens unfavorable outcome with lawsuit
*Use of "equity language"
*Bonus: Work 'inclusivity' in same sentence as equity language

His district exists at this point in order to keep SW GA Dems out of other GOP districts.
