1990 LSU students held alternate commencement to protest Reagan speaking in Tiger Stadium

So there's nothing new here. The lunatics have always flipped out because of their hatred of conservatives.
A gaggle of students & LSU professors had their own event during commencement at the Greek Theater.
Those are my ticketstubs. I was honored and for weeks the reveille was spewing bile..the opinion pages and letters to the editor were 100% anti-Reagan nonsense.
Ol' CAD had to resort to putting in his 2 cents in defense of Reagan in the newspaper instead of PB but rest well, comrades. reading what i wrote in the reveille in 1990 looks exactly like the stuff i put here on a daily basis. (i kept a stack of them which i still have to this day)
i was one of the only people to get a letter printed in the reveille in support of reagan.
curious what asurob has to say about the fact there was virtually no difference in the rhetoric then and what we're seeing now with Trump.
its just more of the same.
some of us have just been around longer and have good memories.

I'm a '91 grad and never heard anything about this.
Big difference between protest coverage then vs. now.
I saw the protestors for the SCOTUS nomination Monday night, and the cameras had to zoom waaaay in to disguise the fact that less than a dozen people were in the group.
Also, in hindsight I should have done whatever it took to be in the group that had Reagan at commencement. Awesome.

asurob1 doesn’t want to have an actual debate.

That's awesome.
Have you ever thought about framing or doing a small shadow-box with the ticket stub and article clipping together?

I was in Tiger Stadium for the Reagan event, and it was great.
Glorious ending to his speech when he said "hot boudin, cold cush cush, c'mon tigers, push, push, push."
A small group of protesters got escorted out, for reasons I do not remember.

The Left has ALWAYS been infantile. Eventually they will return to the womb where we will in accordance to their wishes, abort them.

I didn't need a ticket. Was getting a degree that day.
It was awesome. A few jackasses stood and turned their backs.

We had a very similar incident at Mississippi State when George H.W. Bush spoke at commencement as a sitting president.
About 10 graduates protested by turning their backs when he was introduced to thunderous applause and a standing ovation at Scott Field. The Reflector and Reveille covered it like it was a massive protest.
Always found it cool that so many of the land grant colleges had media named Reveille!

Liberals do the same thing with every GOP president. The racist label was thrown around early and often with W, despite and obvious career spent working with minorities at high level positions.
When pointed out that Rice was the highest black woman to every hold office, the Democrats responded with the slogan "Not my sista".

Take it from a 66 year-old, I think, the 50th is when you quit counting.

Nothing new, no doubt, but its certainly grown into a larger and more powerful movement.

asurob is a liberal Dem and the complete opposite of Reagan. He has a Chernobyl meltdown whenever Trump wins (which is all the time)

I graduated in 92 and Barbara Bush was the speaker. My gf at the time was pretty liberal and walked out so as not to hear the "evil" Mrs Bush speak. I broke up with her the next day. Was basically just a convenient college relationship anyway.

That was my commencement as well. I remember sitting in the stadium, under the hot sun, in my suit underneath my gown, thinking, "Damn, at least they have shade in the Greek Amphitheater."
I was not impressed with Ronnie's speech, we were graduating into a recession, and his words rang rather hollow.
I'm no asurob, but it's the same thing with Democratic presidents, each one seems to always be the, "Worstest evah!!!1!!" It's always the same rhetoric, "They're nothing but a bunch of stinking commie bastards, dragging us into their socialist dystopia!!1!" And yet the means of production are still privately held.
