This requires drastically limiting the number of immigrants to allow for assimilation. What we have now is immigration levels so high that immigrants are turning into colonists. That is unacceptable.

I'm not entirely comfortable with this concept given the religious and demographic collapse occurring over there. The last thing I want to do is change the geographic source and end up importing a bunch of Muslims and Democratic Socialists.
Just shut it all down for a generation.

You'd also be surprised how many Chinese are in the US military. We had one is our shop who was always snooping around in places she didn't belong, going through desk drawers, and asking strange questions that really didn't pertain to her job. She claimed "sexism and racism" when called out on this behavior, and would forget how to speak fluent English when convenient. I told our Division Chief I thought she was a spy.

I would guess that most of those who are displaying would not identify or register as Republicans. I certainly don't.

While that may not apply to your line of thinking, how can you possibly speak for every one? But here you are calling someone a liar.

Why is a person from Iceland more worthy of getting a faster Green card than me an Indian? I've been waiting in the line for 10 years. Why do they get to cut the line? Why do you think that is okay?
People from Iceland aren't getting green cards faster than you are. Muslims with terrorist sympathies and uneducated Central American refugees are. Exhibit A: Ilyan Omar, who despite only getting here ~ a decade before you is now in the Congress while you still wait for a Green Card.
You can thank the Democrat party for that. You can also thank them for the racist affirmative action programs that will keep your kids from getting in to the Ivy Leagues or medical school.
And a word of advice: enough with the "me an Indian" business. If you want to be here, you're no longer an Indian. You're an American. You have a new country, new allegiances, a new flag, and a new home. Your interests are no longer aligned with those of India or other Indians. Gaining citizenship in a new country isn't simply a matter of moving to a new place and earning your paycheck in a different currency.
...and nativism is precisely what is going to KEEP America the sort of place that you wanted to come to.
So learn to think differently.

Where has he demonstrated that his allegiances lie anywhere else?
ETA: If anything others have tried to impute an Indian allegiance on his behalf despite his words to the contrary.

You are a prime example of what we don’t need in this country. An entitled jackass from a 3rd world shithole who comes over here and has a worthless arse job and contributes nothing while complaining about our immigration policies. You are a professor. We don’t need professors. Our homegrown academics are bad enough, we certainly don’t need academics from a country in worse shape than our own.
Come on, the guy is a computer science professor. Not only is he training the next generation of people who we DO need in this country, but he’s likely also doing research that positively advances society.

This bill that we are talking about in this thread does not do this in any manner.
I’m concerned with the contention he makes here.

I believe this depends on the kind of immigration we see.

Nice list of countries that we should close to immigration.
You're contradicting yourself and not realizing it.
First, conservatives love to use the "meritocracy" argument. Only the best and brightest should be here.
By that logic, Chinese and Indian immigrants with marketable skills should get preference or at the very least be high priority. The harsh truth is this: most of them have significantly higher value than your average American.
Also, Saudi Arabia is our ally and was specifically NOT put on the original muslim ban list. Despite the fact that are known to house the largest terrorist base (not Iran like the media wants you to believe).
The other fact that makes it racist is the Icelander in question. Notice you never said they should be educated or any other skillset you would place on another foreigner.
All that aside, the bill never shoukd have been created because the economy is finally at full strength and we need to hire as many Americans as possible.

2. I see that being talked about (the need for more and more people) , but it doesn't make sense to me. Destroy one's own country permanently, to expand a tax base? There are obviously other ways around this problem. Perhaps instead of spending obscene amounts of money on immigrants who travel to Europe, they could subsidize native childbirth the same way they have college education. It wouldn't take me very long to come up with way to resolve the issue of expanding a native population in a way that doesn't permanently destroy the nature of a country.
Subsidies for childbirth can work, but it requires changes to their medical system. Most of you hate the ACA (the real name for Obamacare) but in Europe they comepletely embrace single payer hybrid models.
Combine this with higher taxes and you have a much higher costs associated with incentives. That said, id rather they do this and cap immigration at 10% of population.

Show me where in this thread have I even once demonstrated by allegiance to India over USA.
Fact of the matter is, currently I hold an Indian passport (ergo I am an Indian). I do want to become an American. Have taken all the steps legally to make that happen. Have been waiting in line for 10 years now. And this bill specifically makes that line fair by making it first come first served.
