$0 of taxpayer money should be spent on private NFL stadiums

People can shite on the Giants and Jets all they want, but Metlife Stadium in NJ where they play is 100% privately funded. But only them and one other team have stadiums that were 100% privately funded. Every other team is playing in a stadium that was subsidized in part by taxpayers so players making millions of dollars can play there and kneel for the anthem.

St Louis and San Diego had this line of thinking too.

I pay the stadium tax so i can see monster jam.

Yeah they moved because SD and STL wouldn’t help fund a new stadium. Not surprising considering STL is a dump. Same why Raiders moved to LV.

Overall I agree but the taxpayers of the cities/states should decide their own fate.

as long as the city allows a vote on the matter, I have no issues with the stadiums being subsidized

That's the issue! It's not only taxpayers that get to decide. They hold public votes and non taxpayers get a say as well. That's actually what's wrong with the entire country.
I want to help every single individual that needs help...but I DO NOT want that individual involved in problem solving voting while receiving the benefits

Well if the majority of people want it, sure, the subsidies should be proportional to the people who actually want it. If people want tax payer money to go to a stadium, then they should be burdened with an additional tax; not random Joe who is working hard to pay the bills and doesn’t care about football

The main problem of democracy is defined by the bold and underlined portion!

this would be impossible to implement and would completely change our entire tax structure

That's the problem with democracy (one of the problems, should say). Every voter has the same voting power, including people who are voting illegally, or who live on the taxes of other voters.
I propose a new system, where people aren't forced to fund anything against their will, and all projects have to clear the market in order to proceed.

You are describing a free market.

So all those representatives just up and appointed themselves, right? Not sure what point you think you are making.

In the context of stadium referendums, it is a democracy.

It should be up to the municipality and state.

Why didn't you just lead with this? It's really all you wanted to melt about.

I'm not making a point. I'm stating a fact. Our country is run as a Constitutional Republic. Now those officials are elected in via democratic process, but we are a representative form of government.
Not everything is a "gotcha" moment.

If you're going to play wordfrick games, do it right. He didn't say we are a democracy.

NFL teams that receive taxpayer aid should pay back a share of its profits to the states and municipalities that support them. All NFL teams are profitable. It is ridiculous how they fleece taxpayers to build billion dollar stadiums for teams valued at two billion dollars or more.
I have no problem with taxpayers making investments in teams, as long as they get a return. And I mean an ACTUAL return, not an “economic impact” indirect return. The team wants actual dollars, they should return actual dollars. That’s fair.
