So my family and I are looking to go out of the country for thanksgiving, specifically the caribbean. I am asking the OT travel experts what are some good resorts to go to. Resorts can be all-inlcusive or not.

TIA

Your price point is key. If you've got a nice chunk to spend, Caneel Bay in St. John.

Four Seasons Resort on Nevis. The nicest resort in the Caribbean IMHO.

Beatiful in every way and the service is incredible. Bring your Black Amex. You'll need it.

Size of family and ages of kids would help...

All adults over the age of 21 and not break the bank type of trip but not bottom of the barrel.

I second the earlier suggestion of St. John. Very quiet, beautiful beaches and scenery, still in the U.S. Can't go wrong there.

Looking for small town, resort, partying? Good food, lots of activities or just lay on the beach and relax?

Preferably a resort that we can have a good time but also relax.

If my kids were a little older, we would definitely choose Four Seasons Nevis. Hard to go wrong with a Four Seasons and that'd one looks amazing.

My kids are too young to just want to relax so we like going places more kid oriented at least for now. We are going to Beaches Turks and Caicos this summer. Should be fun but I wouldn't go there if my kids weren't young.

That really does not clear up your price point. Everyone's bank and barrel is different.

I'm looking at a Caribbean vacation right now too and one thing I've learned is that the difficulty getting to these places is wildly different. One reason I settled on Turks & Caicos is because you can get a direct flight from Atlanta. With the BVI's you're either on a sketchy puddle jumper or a ferry. Some people enjoy that sort of adventure and some would rather not deal with it.

Air tickets alone are going to eat up a good chunk of that amount.

You do realize that Turks & Caicos is part of the British Virgin Islands, correct?

So, that's strictly for lodging? And, how many nights?

Last summer I stayed at the Jewel Dunn's River Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It was nice and is one of the smaller all-inclusive resorts. The staff were great, and it was pretty close to town.
