On the corner of Ryan & Eddy in the old Blockbuster, near Books-A-Million. I've never been to 5 Guys, but I've seen the videos of people lined up for miles when they open. I'll wait a few weeks for the buzz to die down then check it out I guess. I don't eat fast food often.

For those who have had it what are your thoughts? Likes? Dislikes?

Better burger than normal run of the mill fast food burgers.

Over priced for fast food.

No way in hell would I line up for miles to wait for it. Wouldn't go out of my way either.

I was surprised too, to be honest. I went by Books-A-Million to pick up a father's day gift and they seemed to have just put the signs on the building.

That doesn't look so bad for fast food. The patty looks more like actual meat than McD's/BK/Wendy's.

I'll probably try it out drunk night.

Wink and Neuxla,

5 Guys is a potential tenant in that development on Carrollton across from Little Tokyo. Told it is a fairly done deal, though.

I'd rate the burger about the same as the dairy barn. Of course, since this is Lake Charles, people will flock to the new chain instead of the local place (which is better priced).

Lake Charles just goes crazy for chains (I've never seen the Olive Garden not packed). It's almost that they see chains moving in as a validation of the city.

5 Guys is an incredibly average burger. In the fast food world it is the best, but that is also like saying USC is the best football team in the Pac 10.

Ditto on the chain thing, shite in 1990 wasnt much of anything. Now chain city, Cottens still has the best burger IMO, even though the whole interior is literally sticky to the touch! Vietnamese, Greek guess we'll get Indian next

I've heard the second BR location will open before the first Lafayette location. I've also heard the Lafayette location is likely open before year's end and the second BR one will be at LSU northgates in the old blockbuster building. I wonder how that will affect Raoul.

First let me say that I agree completely with supporting local restaurants. There are several that make a good burger in LC, but I can't stand Dairy Barn. I've had their burger 3 times, and each time I found it bland and very underwhelming. I really don't understand the love the place gets, but to each their own. I stick with Cotton's or Nina P's when I need a burger fix, or grill them myself.

The only Vietnamese place I know of is on Sale and I didn't think it was a chain. I know Zeus is a chain for Greek food, but I've only eaten at a Lafayette location once. Is Cedar's a chain too? The one on Ryan is the only one I've ever seen. And I don't know of any Indian place in LC, but I wish we would get one, preferably not a chain but if a chain was my only option for Indian food I'd go every now and then if it was decent.

Dairy barn's burgers are absolute shite. Really bland, way overcooked, and cold american cheese slices.

5 Guys is good for fast food. I don't really go because there are 4-5 better burgers within a half a mile in BR for the same or less money.
