I like my Hustler Raptor SD 60. It has the 60" deck and the 24HP Kawasaki engine. I paid right around $4500 for from Lowes with a 3 year warranty.

I shopped around and I felt it was the best of the residential ZTR mowers for the price. I only have to cut a little over an acre for my yard. However I have lots of trees to go around and it has done it's job without issue.

Most of the residential machines are going to be very similar in the top brands (Gravely, Hustler, Husqvarna, Ariens, Toro).

How big of a deck do you need? If a ~50' deck is fine, you might want to step into the commercial range of Exmark or Bobcat. Both are good machines, Bobcat tends to run some 0% finance offers a lot.

The Huster Raptor SD that is mentioned is a borderline commercial machine. Very well build and reasonably priced. I have the Big Dog Alpha but plan to upgrade if I build a house with a bit more land.

How do you like it? I found one with a 60” deck for $4400 and am thinking Of pulling the trigger. The 7 year warranty is also a nice perk for them

We cut yards on the side and run Gravelys - 42” up to 60” - easy to do scheduled maintenance and have never had any warranty issues. We have both Kawasaki and Kohler engines and they perform great.

I have a exmark with the Kawasaki. I like it. Paid 3200.

If I had a do Iver I would have bought the hustler.

Get one with arm rests and a good seat with more than three springs. You'll appreciate it.

I wash mine pretty much Everytime and blownit dry. It looks brand new after 5years.

Several gravleys friends have had have had bearing issues. Not sure if it's then or the mower.

I never cut wet grass. Hitting the bearings with water if you run through sone while they are hot isn't good.

I pulled the belt coverplates off so I can wash and blow the grass of the pulleys.

The big dog is the upscale Hustler. The Alpha is literally the same machine as the Hustler Raptor except it has a more comfortable seat, hour meter and a better warranty.

I've had it close to 5 years and had zero problems with it other than shitty gas being put into it.

I got a standard hustler raptor 42” at the beginning of this season. It has the kohler smart choke engine on it. So far I’ve loved it.

In the price range in the OP, the only Chopper you will get is residential and they just aren't built well.

The chopper I am considering is the magnum. I have done research online , but I have not seen one at a dealership yet . Thanks for your information. I did go check out a bobcat , a gravely , and a worldlawn.
The worldlawn is in the lead at this point

Just bought a John deere 375R. 54" deck with 25hp. I now cut my 3 acre yard in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. I've spent lots of time on scag commercial mowers, diesel john deere commercial mowers, grasshopper, etc. For the price point the residential john deere zero turns are impossible to beat for someone mowing once or twice a week. Mine was right under $3900 out the door.

Bad Boy was the best deal in my area. None of the others in that price range could compare in build quality.

I just picked up the Big Dog Alpha MP with a 60" deck and the 25hp Kowasaki engine for 4,300 out the door. Got it from LaCaze Outdoor Power in Tioga, La. They were great to work with. They also had some good deals on the Bad Boy ZT Elites and other models.

I’ve got a Fastrack Hustler and have no complaints but I think the Bad Boys are the best deals going.
