Too lazy to look up. Is there any laws on how long you can leave them out? Was in the Tchefuncte today and at 12p there were several catfish drying up as well as a couple sacs. Saw the guys going to rebait. Asked them why are y’all leaving fish to rot? No answer. Typical

I'd cut em down if I know they've been there for a while.

those sound like the weekend warrior types

too frickin lazy to use a pole to fish so they put out yoyo and don't come back to check them again until the next weekend

as mentioned, if you see they aren't being checked pick them up and remove them or cut off all the hooks

PS - calling game warden about this does no good at all, they wont do anything

best just to leave it alone.
some methheads leaving you for dead in your boat over a yo-yo or a jugline is not worth it. seen it too many times.

I have been limb lining the chit out of some catfish lately. And I just use a business card laminated attached to the line. You have to check every 24 hours. Pretty simple.

Been hammering the cats all on cypress trees.

For bait I get cut up stew meat and put a good chunk in those paper disposable cups you use for Jell-O shots. And then in a blender I take a thing of chicken livers blend it up and mix in unflavored jello. I take that bloody gravy and pour it over chunk of stew meat. Just enough to cover. Put on a piece of cardboard so I have a cardboard tray. Slide into ziplock. Seal and put in cooler with ice and in 24 hrs you got a good chunk of stew meat with some good gravy.

Works good

Uncs, I don’t think that the name on it is a requirement statewide, but on about 8-10 locations

I don’t know a what you’re talking about but getting out late after a full night of running yoyos is certainly plausible. CHILL.

idk why people use those things. i've lost two stringers in my life and nothing feels shittier than all that work gone for no good reason.

that chance of leaving fish to rot is so much higher with yo yos, not to mention there's no skill at all in that way of "fishing".

We run the pizz out of yo-yo's in Mecca and getting out at 12pm is really late to check for fish from the last night's final run. Those baws were probably just hung over from drinking too much brown water.

I have no issues with them. Seem like fun drinking beers at night. Just use them in a responsible way. End of story

Some of my fondest memories are running yo-yo's with my dad in a 14' flat with a 9.9 Mercury on Caddo Lake. We used to sleep in the back on the truck in sleeping bags with no camper shell for a few hours at a time and just stare up at the stars.

I was 12 or 13 in the mid-80's and I remember him waking me up once asking if I wanted to go run them and I told him I was too cold could we wait till the morning. When we checked them, the small fish get pulled completely out the water and they were frozen solid.

They passed on by us-probably going to tend their pot.
We headed up the river with the fish we'd caught, but before we made the landing I thought I heard a shot...back down the river.
