Looking at putting together a Ruger 10/22 and curious what y’all think is the “ultimate” setup.

Main use would be squirrel and small game, but I’d also like something that’s just fun and versatile for general range/plinking. Trying to decide between standard vs takedown, different barrel lengths, and what kind of optic makes the most sense.

For those who’ve built one out:
What barrel length/profile do you like for squirrel?
Scope or just good irons? If scope, what magnification range?
Any stock styles you prefer for woods carry?
Is the takedown worth it or stick with the standard?
Any upgrades that made a noticeable difference?
Not looking to go crazy, but open to ideas. Appreciate any input.

I have a green mountain bull barrel and a butler creek on mine with a Cabela’s brand rimfire specific scope on it that has adjustable turrets. It’s a tack driver and the only thing I dislike somewhat is the stock trigger.
I will probably get a tikka or begarra bolt 22 just because of how much quieter bolt guns are with a suppressor and subs, plan to get a suppressor as soon as the buying frenzy ends.
I will make sure that my next scope has a stadi style retical that way I can zero at 50yd for high velocity and then just memorize what hash mark is needed for the appropriate sub sonic.

Mine is light as a feather and a tack driver. Would love to compare the weight with one of the new carbon fiber ones. My upgrades included:

Tactical Solutions X-Ring barrel
Hogue Overmolded stock
Power Customs hammer and sear package
Volquartsen automatic bolt release
Buffer, don’t remember what brand but either Volquartsen or Lee
Game Reaper mount with Leupold VX Rimfire

Have have two very light and very accurate 10/22s

1st. Ruger action and internals with the BX trigger
Tactical solutions barrel
Hogue overmold stock

2nd Brownells BRN action and bolt
Volquartsen internals and BX trigger
Volquartsen carbon barrel
Magpul stock.

The Carbon barrel is no where near as reliable as the tactical solutions. It has a match chamber and needs much better ammo than I’m willing to spend plinking with it at my farm. It’s stupid accurate though.
The tactical solutions barrel is very accurate as well but not as accurate as the volquartsen. But, we are talking one hole at 50yds vs .5”-.75”.

Buy now then, because the craze hasn't even started. We are nearing that magical term of "common use" and then the numbers are going to explode

I’m interested to see how my Carbon does. Taking the wife shooting today but it will be pistols so have to wait for sighting in the 10/22.

w/o looking it up, I believe I recall that the carbon fiber version is 1.5 lbs lighter than the standard carbine. Doesn't really sound like much on paper but when you pick it up your second thought is "I'm going to have to bolt this to the bench to keep it from blowing away"

His has the tactical solutions barrel which is a stainless core with aluminum over it. Stupid light like the carbon.

Not the ultimate set up but its sure a tack driver. Its a bergera w a carbon barrel, composite stock, has a nice crisp trigger. Went overboard on a good vortex scope. At 50 yds i can cloverleaf rounds. It does like certain ammo so whatever you build try a few different brands to see what it likes. Didn't break the bank and is fun to shoot

May depend on what suppressor you are getting. My dad received his in 22LR and I think he started the process beginning of the year.
