Pretty sure it can't be in plain sight.
In Louisiana it's the complete opposite. Guns are supposed to be in plain sight.

So apparently you've stopped all the carjackings in your part of Florida?
LOL
Get over yourself, officer. I'm not counting on you to save me. I'll call you to do the paperwork like everyone else.

This is why we train and use tactics. You don't just stroll up to a car. I assume every car and every person I stop is armed. It is one of the first questions I ask the person I am contacting on a traffic stop.
I have on numerous times encountered someone on traffic stops with weapons in their laps. While the situation can be tense, I at least learn of the weapon very quickly and in a way that I can protect myself.
Its the gun you don't see and they ones they don't tell you about that will most likely kill you.

How many stops have you made & seen a gun? Now how many stops you made that you didn't see a gun but was likely one there? I'm not an officer but i'd much perfer to see it than have a feeling they have one & not see it if this makes sence.

Exactly. So why would you begrudge me having easy access to my own weapon in my own vehicle in my own holster so I can defend my own life?
Because like you just said, you won't be doing it. You'll be directing traffic around the crime scene.
Sorry I'm jumping down your throat here but that opening statement of yours was pure arrogant ignorance.

Messes people get themselves into? I would hope to never need the pistol in my truck but I'd hate to be in a situation where I felt my safety was at risk and not have it

LSUwag, so what you're saying is that if you pulled me over with that rig in my truck you would assume that I intent was to "kill cops"? What would be your next action? Assuming, of course, that Fla laws are the same as La laws concerning firearms in a vehicle.

IMHO the most important thing to understand when owning a holster like the one pictured is to use common sense and be aware of what type of reaction one might get from a police officer on a traffic stop.
I have no problem with the holster or a citizen legally carrying a weapon in any other fashion for that matter as long as the person is responsible and not a dumb arse about it. Maybe if more people would lawfully carry we could put a few of the maniacs that go on shooting sprees down before they killed so many people.

It was based on a very long career's worth of experience where generally when you see a rig like this, the person with it is generally an a-hole who probably has a serious problem with authority or is a freaking lunatic who is looking for trouble. The vast majority of normal people in our society do not have guns mounted under their steering wheel.
FTR, if someone is lawfully carrying a weapon in their vehicle it really doesn't matter if they have a problem with your authority.

Why is it a felony? What's the law? Just wondering.
