With the government shutdown, not many tackle only type places will be open. Some gas stations sell cold worms. Does anybody know where you can buy shiners or crikets that will still be open? Ascension Living sells shiners sometimes, so does Cabela's, though they want about $0.50/piece it seems like. I don't know anywhere that sells crickets in this area at all.

On a side note, I went to Z's tackle today in Lutcher, they'll be open during the shutdown because it's located in a pharmacy. That was my first time there, and not a bad selection of fresh and saltwater tackle for being small.

Shenandoah Hardware has them. It isn't in ascension, but being a hardware store, they will probably stay open.

Fisherman’s one stop doesn’t carry shinners any more. In the Parker’s grocery store parking lot, corner of 447 and hwy 16 has a bait shop with worms, crickets and shinners cash only, I think she is closed on Tuesdays.

Ascension Living in Gonzales had shiners the last time I was in there.

I hear ascension living is closing. There is a bait shop in a campground in the curve at Port Vincent that was open Sunday. Good Luck
