Debating a lightly used truck and have been eyeing F150's but...

Seeing a lot of gently used '22 Tundras with low mileage. I know there have been reports of pretty widespread wastegate issues, is the number of well priced, low mileage, new model Tundras a sign to stay away?

I assume these are still covered under factory warranties but unless I'm mistaken lemon laws only apply to original owners.

I have one that I got in May and thankfully no issues. Already have 13k miles on it.

If it’s the issue that I remember it was only on SR5 models.

The wastegate issue wasn’t that big of a deal. Toyota figured out the production run numbers that were affected and recalled them for a fix I believe. All first runs will have some type of issue.

Those low mileage “used” vehicles are flips. Tundras, Lightnings, Broncos, Rivians, etc etc.

Agree with others that those are probably "flips". The price of used vehicles was so out of control you could buy a new one cheaper than used so folks were buying them and then reselling quicker than normal. With all that said, I'm going to hang on to my '17 until it's dead or the wheels fall off.

I'm driving a SR5 demo. We will be "flipping" once I get to 10k or so. I was skeptical about the twin turbo V6 but I'm sold on it. Truck has good power and fuel mileage is wayyyyyyyyyy better.

I got a 15 that I'm doing the same with. 150k miles on it. Only have had to do standard maintenance. Oil changes, air filter, and new tires. Keep looking at 3/4 tons but those prices are absolutely ridiculous. Phuck it, I'll keep the Tundra a couple more years.

Dropped the 5.7 and I believe the back windows no longer roll down.

My crew max limited has the rear window that rolls down. 23k miles on mine. Love it so far. Towed my 32' 5th wheel with it all through the Ozarks, and did great.Had a 2010 and 2019, loved the 5.7 v8, but (so far) this is engine/transmission setup is way more towing and gas mileage friendly - assuming it holds up long term like the 5.7 v8.

I wouldn’t buy a first year model of any vehicle. But I’d buy a second year Tundra

I have a 2020 TSS 4WD bought in December 2019 with only 19k miles. I have a company Tacoma so it's only a weekend vehicle. I planned on keeping it but the new ones are growing on me. Must try to resist. Lol

It’s tempting when I hear of people getting 19mpg while I get around 14mpg

To me gaining 5 mpg is not worth getting a new one. Now if it was 10 mpg, I'd think about it. I'll stick with my 2012 with 200k on it.

You can buy a lot of gas with 10-30K it would cost to trade for a new one.

I'm driving a 2006 Tundra with 93K miles on it. I plan to trade it in at 200K miles in 2040

How many of them are telling you the best number they ever see on the display vs an actual calculated average?

No of course not. But it is a strong added incentive. I love my 2016 Tundra but it’s not 4WD and thatd be the main reason for getting a new one.
