I have a Great Pyrenees (100 lbs) and I feel like he would be able to handle a solo female wolf. He has about an acre to run on and I'm always in awe when he hits top speed. He can also jump like no other. He literally jumps around as if he were on on a pogo stick. He is a great guard dog.

I didn't realize that a quiz was going help determine the winner in this fight, lol. Sorry dude but your repeated bringing up of wolves intelligence kinda shows your affinity to the wolves. Its cool man.

My post was in response to one questioning the intelligence. I suggest you actually read before posting, it will help you stay on track.

A wolf's intelligence probably means little for fighting purposes. In fact, a wolf's superior brain would tell it to avoid a fight rather than risk injury/death.

We'll just have to differ on that. Wolves know how to kill and how to avoid dangerous situations. They pick and choose their attacks. It's critical to their survival.

Rog can you just admit that there are a few breeds that if it were 2-1,3-1 would be able to take a wolf. Not that I give a hit but just so this thing can end.

And JimJack you coming to the Varsity Fri, ole Boland and the boys are opening for Turnpike Troubadours

Nah. This time of year there really isn't much of a need. Wolf attacks are extremely rare. Even the moose in S.E. are less aggressive than in S. Central.

If there is more than 0.1% chance of encountering a wolf or grizzly bear, there is a 100% chance I will be armed - and something of respectable caliber.

Now that I think about it - toss in mountain lion, there, too.

Well, my road has a lot of joggers, mainly females in tight spandex. They don't have much of a place to carry one...

The problem is - still a domesticated pet versus a wild animal - he'll have a size advantage over a typical grey wolf, but, once you add a second wolf - it's over for your boy.

Wolves have lost their fear of man and man's markers in many areas. That's why they're predating lion hounds in Big Sky country right now - they're rethinking the whole mountain lion management problem, because the lion hounds are the most effective way and they're way too exposed to wolf attacks right now.
