Does anyone know the exact rule to this? I know some WMAs (possibly all) are closed to duck hunters on the Fri-Sun after thanksgiving for the opener of gun hunting both sex deer on WMAs. i can’t locate the actual rule anywhere

It's a real pain in the dick when you wait in line at the check station wondering wtf is going on, ride to the duck hunting area. Surrounded by coonasses with rifles... then realize you don't belong

Sherburne is definitely closed. I made that mistake a couple years ago. Ended up with an official documented warning instead of a ticket. Luckily the game warden was a nice guy.

Most are closed because of either sex deer hunting this weekend.

You need to go read the specific regs for each wma in the hunting regs book. Some are closed and some are not.

I think the coastal WMAs are the only ones where waterfowl isn't closed if there is an either sex firearm deer hunt. All the rest close during those weekends.

I’m not seeing the section where it was WMAs are closed to duck hunting this weekend. I’m looking for specifically Yancey, can anyone confirm that it is closed for the weekend?

Serious question: do this many people not know how to read the regulations? The last 20 or so pages are specific regulations for every piece of public hunting land in Louisiana.
