We need a shorter gun season. It would help the amount of young bucks make it another year.

This one always comes up. Who is the arbiter of quality vs opportunity? I want the longest season possible, because I like to hunt.

Cameras on public are for the weak.

So are E bikes.

So is live scope.

That’s why we live in America, everyone has the right to their own opinion!
I like to hunt as much as anyone. I’m saying shorten the gun season and lengthen the bow season

Maybe they will require a $15 permit per camera that you have to print out and attach it to the camera

you can restrict all you want in public, we need fewer restrictions on private so we can manage as need be without Leo fricking with us. How many 190” deer do you want to see?

And more importantly why do you care that my property must be managed for 190” deer?

This. People are losing the Primal Instinct to hunt and fish for food.

To each their own. However, I choose the old ways.

Technology has allowed hunters to ignore their instincts and spiritual connection to Mother Nature only to become nothing more than data processors and assassins.

Area 9 has doe days, and not many of them.

My area 9 hunting land has more does than I can shake a stick at, and by the time weekend soccer and football games are done, there’s no more doe days.

The LDWF in Baton Rouge are a bunch of clueless assclowns. The only way to get promoted to make the decisions is to move to Baton Rouge, and the local biologists throughout the state that know their habitats and wildlife populations don’t want to move to the shithole of Baton Rouge.

I'll never understand the desire to kill young bucks.

Correct, if you need meat shoot a doe……..if it’s doe day.

I’ll never understand someone shooting a 120# four point when you can shoot a 120# doe.

Butttttttttt I was once that fella that if it was brown it was down so I understand kinda.

used to, due to limited doe days, bucks were all you could shoot. I’ve killed a pile of spikes and 3-points and shite.

I mean dog season is gonna run those deer off faster than you think. The rednecks run dogs where I hunt and i slowly start to see nicer deer either get killed or go to greener pastures. Chaps my arse because they shoot everything they see and I work my arse off setting up stands and scouting. I didn’t even know that public land dog hunting was a thing

Id prefer to shoot the doe, but doe days and life can make that far more difficult than it should be.

Get your land or club on DMAP and that’s no longer a problem. Shoot them whenever u want and however many you want a day!

with the stupid doe days you're going to either have outlaws or people shoot bucks that need an extra year. Countless times I've been in the stand on Tuesday thinking ill be a conservationist an shoot this doe on a Saturday. zero logic behind this.

Shorten the season so people shoot the first buck that walks out because “I had to shoot it, can only hunt a few days.”

Most folks do that anyways. It’s like it’s bred into the mentality of Louisiana hunters, especially South Louisiana. If it’s brown it’s down. It’s really sad, Louisiana could rival the midwestern states with trophy deer.

Doe days are very dumb, I agree. With the DMAP tags we can shoot doe whenever we want and however many a day we want. So much easier

It’s not the government’s place to dictate if a public natural resource should be managed for big racks. The current setup is actually probably one of the best, it allows ample hunter opportunity to get in the woods and be successful and keeps the population at a healthy level < half of carrying capacity. Can not ask for much better than that. If you want older bucks stop shooting young bucks. We already have a lot of big deer in this state and I have noticed with cell cameras people are seeing these big bodied older deer more and letting the little ones walk because they have ample time to wait for the bigger deer. States with short seasons are actually worse about its brown its down to get meat in the freezer. Antler restrictions also do not work, and long term can lead to a drop in rack size across a herd. Our deer season is great just the way it is.
