I've been in the apparel business 25 years. I've Repped brands such as Helly Hansen, Simms and Stearns. The mark up is all big box retail related. I see garments that I know cost them $25 marked at $100 or more. Its incredible compared to the Industrial Safety lines I rep where distributors are happy to get 30% on most items. The price[point has been set and will not change.

Because waste is far less, inventory is less volatile, cost to house and market it is less.

Retail is a costly bitch just to survive

Whats a better way to spend daddy's money than buying Sitka gear for $600? The people who own these companies found a market and are very successful selling overpriced camo because everyone is about keeping up with the jones'. Just my .02

Today I picked up a pair of denim like pants at Walmart for under 20 bucks. Says Mossy Oak brand on them. Not a bad pair of jeans/pants!

Used to go to the Mossy Oak store in West Point when I was in school and you could get some awesome deals in there.

I got a badass pair of Shadow Branch (GOAT) bibs from there when I was in high school. I almost cried the day I had to retire them.

They have a camo aisle at Walmart. Academy has plenty as well. You don’t have to wear name brand gear to hunt. I never understood why people spend big bucks on gear they’re gonna get covered in mud, dirt and other things. As long as it keeps me warm, I don’t have a problem with wearing generic gear.

Go on a hunt in the mountains, you'll never buy cheap/shitty camo again.

Walking to a box stand, yeah doesn't matter. Climbing 3,000' and hiking 10 miles where the temp will go from 15 degrees to 60 degrees in 4 hours, it's worth every penny for the kuiu, first lite, sitka level gear.
