I catch lots of Bass in the lake......put in the time and figure it out. Gotta know where to go and when. I will tell you that the entire Florida parish river system fishery is tough. You are not just going to go out there and work a bank or stretch of river and catch fish On a consistant basis.

There is a good bit of Kentucky bass in ruddock area, ruddock canal, and I-55 canals.
Caught a few in maurepas more in the summer when water heats up in the canals.
Been catching them for years.
LSU Neil's right the Florida parish rivers can be a different animal to figure out.
Took me 10 yrs to figure it out to the point I know what to do under certain conditions.

There are bass, sacalait, bream, reds, catfish in that lake. In the spring and fall you can catch some really nice flat heads out there. Blues up to 40 lbs out there as well. Just have to find them. Some older guys fish soft shell crabs out there for the flat heads. Some will go over 50 lbs.

I have a friend who used to dive for catfish in the stumps, told me he's seen some really good bass that just bury themselves in the stumps.

If they ever open up a spillway from the Mississippi River into Lake Maurepas that fishery would be one of the top places in Louisiana.
They've been talking about having that one freshwater diversion project to put freshwater back into the Blind River swamp, if they do that, the stretch of lake bank by Blind River will become really productive IMO

May I ask why you say no Kentucky Bass in the lake?

FYI last time bass which are small was good was when the Bonnet Carre spillway was open in 2011.
Bonnet Carre was opened this year, for a good while. Probably closed by now though.

Kentucky bass is same as a spotted bass. These live in cooler water that is usually upstream and flowing constantly. Some of these may have been relocated due to being caught up tangi river during tournaments and released at the launch.
The lake getting to 90+ degrees in the summer isn't ideal for spotted bass.

You must not be that successful in catching Kentucky bass in maurepas.
I catch atleast one or two a trip in the early summer and in late fall & early winter I can catch a limit of them no problem if water is running out of canals into the lake. I caught them in the oilfield canal, prairie canal, I-55 canals, caught biggest one at mouth of Reaerve canal, they have grass beds in the lake I got lucky found it due to bass were schooling up busting on shad, mouth of tickfaw River & maurepas and mouth of I-55 & maurepas in the stumps by the interstate. Please don't run up to these canals unless you know the path they got stumps under the water a good ways out.
In the summer toward July August when water clears up
trick worms can get you a limit of larger bass mixed with Kentucky bass but you have to get off the bank and fish stumps in deeper water.
They got them mix in with other bass. It takes time to learn how wind affects the lake and which area to fish.
Yup they are in the maurepas area.
Here is secret shad type lures will do better than crawfish type lures.

They actually are making a diversion through Blind River now. Hopefully the fish will start to thrive. Time will tell.
The Davis Pond diversion to Cataouchie was a success, but the LDWF also stocked the fishery with a ton of Florida bass.
They just need to let the grass grow back and quit killing it.

I really hope they do this and restore the swamps and marshes in the Lake Maurepas area. It would become a super productive freshwater lake for fishing.

Maurepas is stagnant. I hunt Maurepas WMA and most places if you take one step you sink to your balls. Nothing but decay. It stinks when you pull your foot up.

Sounds exactly like the area I hunt/fish near Chauvin
