Not necessarily a collector yet but got into knife sharpening with Japanese whetstones over the last year. Wife wanted her near 30 year old set of Chicago Cutlery knives sharpened. After watching dozens of videos on how to and then falling arse backwards down a YouTube rabbit hole I'm hooked. I get my knives at estate sales, garage sales and thrift stores for a few bucks. I'm planning to replace the handles on a few and eventually would like to make my own. I had no idea until I got into doing this how huge the knife sharpening and knife building community is. It's also very therapeutic for me to work with my hands and learn a craft and escape all the daily BS I have to deal with at my day job.

This is me.
I will not pass up a kitchen knife if it is a good price especially an older Chicago Cutlery.
I also look for Old Hickory but will take a good look at any if it is cheap enough.

I do not collect but have maybe a dozen knives. My most recent is one from the below company. Some friends gave me a gift certificate for this company and I really like the knife I chose.

EDC - Civivi Elementum. Lost my button lock one. EDC is budget friendly, used daily, and no big deal if lost.

Fixed blade - ESEE 4

Hunting - Case Trapper, bone color. Great two blades for skinning/cleaning squirrels, deer, hogs, etc

collectors- my old Victorinox cross Pioneer, my Grandpa's old Case, Case my Uncle gave me in 05, and my late Uncle's Cub Scout folder from early 60's

Handful of other fixed and folding kives

I have a couple of Old Hickories with carbon steel blades but handles are shot which I plan to replace. My best find was a 1940-50s era beautifully patina Dexter 48912. There was just a few small specks of rust on it which I was able to remove with BarKeepers friend. I haven't gottten around to sharpening it yet but oiled the blade for now to prevent future rust. I only paid $1 for it. Below is pic I found of one that's almost identical to mine in appearance.

I have some fixed blades from Williams Knife Co. Really like them for cleaning animals. My current carry blade is a Chris Reeves folding knife with the sandblasted titanium handles…made in Idaho.

No doubt. Imagine your wife coming home and saying I found a pocketknife today, you want it?Expect some piece of shite and she hands you that.

I’ve got them tucked away all over the place. I’ve got these 4 in my bathroom drawer

You should add a K390 to your collection if you don't have one. They're Japanese Spydercos, so the fit and finish is hit or miss, but their heat treatment is so good it's worth it. I fixed the sloppy grind on mine (Endela) and got some G10 scales for it and I love it. Liked the steel enough that I bought a Dragonfly in it as well.

Those are beautiful. CR knives have, historically imo, had terrible designs. Thankfully CR Jr. is freshening them up a bit.

I carry a Sebenza 31 large daily but also have a 21 large and an inkosi large. The sebenza is my favorite of the two.

I've also have a couple Rotten Design Evolutions (big and small) and a Mick Strider SNG. I don't think I ever carry these outside of the house.

I have a 3 microtechs and 7 Benchmades. My favorite is my crooked river Benchmade. I have a custom made folder. It has a carbon fiber handle and is probably the easiest knife I have to keep sharp.

I just ordered a Buck Sprint Pro flipper.

LINK

I love flippers. Button lock flippers are my favorites. Though a well designed frame lock is cool.

The only thing I don't like about the H1 Salts is that the steel is so damned soft you have to touch it up after every fishing trip. It absolutely does not rust or chip, but ti also doesn't hold an edge.

They have 2 new steels for their Salt knives that are almost as stainless and in a different league for edge retention. I haven't bought one yet but it's on the list.

Big ole Spyderco fanboi here. Not sure I'm a collector since I actually use them all. I think my favorite is the Native Chief.
