Looking for a place to send my 7month old black lab to get some obedience training and duck training, any recommendations? Also how long will he be gone for and what kind of price am I looking at?

You are probably looking @ around $500 a month. If you want a finished dog that does blind retrieves, hand & whistle signals you are probably looking @ a minimum of 6 months.

A good friend of mine sent his pup here & the dog turned out amazing:

If you're in Baton Rouge there is no need to look any farther than Chuck McCall. Post your email here if you want his number.

Both trainers listed in here are Excellent, the Meche's and Chuck.

I would consider adding the following to the list:

Mark Smith Southlake Kennels, Norco, LAlikely best trainer in the state.

Bart Posey Picayune, MS Wonder Labs Kennel

Those would be my choices coupled with the two above. However $500 /mo will be a steal likely closer to $550-$600/mo.

Beatty Kennels in Heflin, La. trained my Lab. She retrieves around 400 birds a year. They did a great job.

Another fan of Chuck McCall here. I'm sure the others are fine but I've competed against chuck and he is a class act.

Steve Riggins. I've got no experience personally with him, but I've hunted with several of his dogs and spend time with them regularly, and they are outstanding.

He has my GSP now. She is halfway through. He charges $600/month. Bear Creek on the Bayou. He has tons of land, water, and birds. She is being trained for retrievi, upland, and he will introduce deer blood to see if she is interested in tracking.
