Like I said, I cannot say exactly what they were.

Ivory grips can still be purchased. Some guns for sale already have ivory grips installed.

gunbroker.com is an excellent site to begin looking. Just type in 'Colt Single Action Army' and let your mouse do the walking.

ETA: If you find a gun online that you are interested in and want some help bring the link back to the OB and some of us might be able to share some knowledge.

At first I thought you were referring to a Glock 19. I should've known better.

Having to sell a first gen black powder SAA with ivory grips would be so horribly painful.

I think I am going to have a conversation with him about the Colt. I am sure he can fill me in on all the details.

Yea do that. You'll be in a whole bunch of money if you go for an original like new 1st gen black powder SAA with ivory stocks, but they are an extremely good investment and appreciate by the day.

Everyone should experience a cocking a SAA

Followed by firing it. The experience is unmatched IMO.

Trivia:

- The 4 clicks symbolize C-O-L-T

- The cocking sound you hear on almost all movies and shows is the SAA sound. Even when Glocks are shown.

I've never gotten to light off a SAA.

No big deal though. I will own one eventually.

The balance of the gun in .45 caliber is just fantastic in all barrel lengths. With standard loads the SAA just sort of rolls up in your hand.

Carrying a gun with you hunting that was designed in 1873 is very satisfying.

ETA : I highly recommend owning a Colt. They are very addictive though.

Did yall look at the James Julia like link I posted? Lots of really expensive, incredible guns. I really enjoy the sxs shotguns but they have a bit of everything, including historic pieces...

Firing a .45 Colt SAA is magic. The only thing that came close was my Colt 1911.

You really need a screen bigger than a phone. Normally I post a thread with some highlights of guns, but they changed the program and that stopped me from posting pics...
