Who all will be traveling out of state to kill turkeys this year? I have a light year planned this year and only going to Tx, Ok, and possibly to a buddies place in Alabama. I will go with another buddy a time or two in Louisiana trying to get him a bird.

Next year is going to be a busy year. I have been to Nebraska twice trying to killing a merriam and have killed hybrids both trips. Next year I will start my season in Florida to kill my osceola. Then I will go to Texas to kill a Rio the following weekend. From there I will go to Alabama to kill an Eastern at my buddies place. Then are the end of April first of may I will be traveling up to Wyoming to hunt a 36k acre ranch to kill my merriam. Not only will I complete my slam...finally...but I will finish a single season slam all with a 20 gauge. Looking forward to next year already. With work it was just not a possibility this year to hunt all the places I wanted too. Next year when I drive up to Wyomming it is also a definite possibility to hunt SD or Ne and then hunt OK or Kansas on the way home.

Where in OK do you hunt? I live in OK, so that's where I'll be chasing thunder-chickens.

Rio's in Texas burnt me out as a kid on Turkey's not much of a challenge and they are abundant.

As I've gotten older I've learned the Turkey's right here in Louisiana have offered me my biggest challenges and hardest hunts.

I have a friend in Tulsa, I've been throwing around the idea of going visit him and trying to hunt some public land out there before heading west to my lease.

Any tips or information on the Osage WMA? If you'd rather not divulge, I understand that lol

Easterns are definitely a lot more challenging than rios. I grew up hunting Easterns in Georgia. My lease here in Louisiana dont have any birds so I am at the mercy of going with buddies. Have killed quite a few here in Louisiana though. Birds in Alabama have been the toughest Easterns I have ever hunted though.

I'm not familar with that area as I hunt private ground. I dont think the ground I hunt is that far North. I do know I had 32 longbeards in front of me last year when I was hunting up there, so theres birds there. I actually meant Altus not Tulsa. The WMA not far from Altus has a bunch of birds, I do know that.

Hale County, AL. Some folks might know of the place.

Can’t scout any due to the river flooding.

Would you guys want to construct an amphibious duck boat vehicle for hunting?

Turkey Hunting this year?

Between the freeze, the drought, the heat, and the floods in the past year, it's gonna be a tough year. Historic low numbers of turkeys everywhere. Don't get your hopes up fellas.

I wouldn't say I was awfully confident, but I spend time to find good places to go to drastically increase my odds. Now none of the places I am going is public and all places have good-great number of birds. Only place I am going with a guide is in Florida for my Osceola. Knock on wood...but I have never traveled out of state and not killed birds. I hope next year is not the first time for that to happen, but anythign is a possibility.
