If you dont want to use Gulp, you can use whatever plastic and tip with a piece of shrimp. I've always thought a paddle tail or curly tail works better.

Sometimes I use a small spinner bait with gold spoon and a small yellow grub as bait. It will catch flounder and Redfish.

I've found that flounder are not very picky, when I find them. I caught 7 a few months ago on 5 different lures. The key to me is slow retrieve bouncing off the bottom. Can't go wrong with H&H curly tail grub.

I like the Owner weighted twist lock hooks for fishing plastics weedless.

I don’t target flounder but I tried those trolling behind my kayak when I’m working a shore or in transit, and I just end up with every damn one tail-less.

Everything that swims hits them. I think a lot of that is small croaker.

It's usually Pinfish. They destroy Gulp.

I really like those but that screw is hard as hell to get into Z-man baits. Those things are tough.

With ZMan I just stick with their own Jig Heads. They seem to work better.

Years ago, a good friend of mine told me we were going to go fishing to load up on flounder and I just laughed it off because my usual flounder catch was when going after reds or trout.

Not exactly sure where we wound up, but it was an area with a good bit of sandy shoreline that we set up a tent to stay overnight.

Headed out that evening and fishing a shoreline using a double shad rig with bits of shrimp attached and fishing under a cork about 24 inches, we started loading up on flounder, and only flounder. Did the same thing the next day before heading back home.

I had never caught so many flounder in my life. That trip was probably close to 40 years ago now and I still remember it for 2 things. The amount of flounder we caught and being in that tent weathering a hell of a thunderstorm and thinking we'd be killed by a lightning strike.

I only flounder fish. If I can't get finger mullet or mud minnows I use a spinner bait with a chartreuse swimming mullet. Drag it across the bottom as slow as possible. Fish moving tide. Flounder don't really bite if the water isn't moving.

I’ve had a lot of success with double rigs and spinners but never tried live. Do you Carolina rig it and drag it?

Carolina rig with 12-18 inches of fluorocarbon leader line.

Yep I use about an 18 to 24 inch leader and 3/8 egg weight. Fish the points where the water slacks on the back side.. pitch it all the way to the bank and slowly drag it toward the boat.. if you catch a couple jig around the boat before you leave. A lot of times the fish will follow the bait to the boat and lay down.. I usually pick 1 or 2 up under the boat..
